I need the best over the counter meds available as an alternative to hydroxyzine hcl. They say zyrtec, benadryl & bonine are good substitutes? Plz verify. Are there any others? I'm looking for a calming effect. ## The most calming of those choices would be the Benadryl, which is also available as a generic, but you should only take it if your doctor agrees that it is safe for you. It can also cause drowsiness and dizziness as a side effect, according to NIH reports. Is there anything else I can help with?

The FDA classifies Gabapentin as an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. It requires a doctor's prescription and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. A sudden withdrawal may also create the risk of seizures. The Gaba that you see available over the counter, however, is just a nutritional supplement. The full name for it is actually Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid. It is just an amino acid. My mother was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and that is why she can't walk. Now that she has this bed sore that developed near the back of her spine, I am searching for an ointment to use here in the Philippines that's available OTC. Would it be better to ask for a doctor's prescription before looking for an OTC ointment for bed sores? ## I'm using CALMOSEPTINE ( Zinc Oxide + Calamine) i bought it in Mercury Drug and also in Generic Pharmacy @ 37.00.

what kind of pill is HYL CF it is small round and white ## This is a supplement, containing: Passiflora, Avena Sativa, Humulus lupulus, Chamomilla, Calcarea Phosphorica, Ferrum Phosphorica, Kali Phosphorica, Natrum Phosphoricum, Magnesia Phosphoricum. It is an over the counter, homeopathic remedy, called Calm's Forte. Thus, as with any other OTC supplement, it is touted, but not proven to treat and help with many thing. Does anybody know any prescription strength sleep aids that are stronger than Melatonin? I have been using at least 10 mg Melatonin a night at bedtime for a few years but it isn’t working like it used to. Keep in mind this is when needed and I would talk to my doctor about this once I have a list related towards this. ## I am 89 and have used Ambien, 5 mg. dose for years, with no bad side effects. It gently brings on a sleepy feeling and usually lasts thru the night. A slight hazy feeling in the a.m. lasts for about an hour but that's all.
