I live in south jersey, I have been on methadone for almost two years and want to get off of it. I go to a doctor in Brooklynn N.Y, and it's exspensive as well as a long day of travel, gas, tolls, etc... I am also on Medicaid and No one honors this insurance. Have you considered other- less harsh- methods of pain relief? Hi, all, I just moved to Covington, KY from. Brooklyn, NY. I am taking Nucynta ER 150 mg/3 x a day, lyrica, celexa, Xanax 2 mg/3 x a day and a muscle relaxant. The main issues are the Nucynta and Xanax. I have had doctor after doctor laugh in my face when asking for this prescription. I started Xanax five years ago and Nucynta about a year ago. No one wants to prescribe Nucynta, either. I have tried Vicodin, oxy--everything. But finally found that Nucynta (a drug I paid $1500 for WITH insurance in NY) works for me. I have been obese all my life except for brief periods where I Iost some weight only to gain it back. I'm now a 61 year old male, 290 lbs, 5'7" and was diagnosed for the first time with hypothyroidism in December of 2011, and I was started on 50 mcg's daily of Levothyroxine (Synthroid). I see so many people with the same fears I have had in the past and still do. I am a P.A. And also a chronic pain sufferer. I have been on meds for 8 years and have the hardest times getting legal prescriptions filled. I actually derided twice myself with proper use of needed meds with no side effects. The only problem I had was extreme pain and ended up in the hospital after I got off meds due to NSAID use and other problems to the point where I was told to go back on opiates. I can help with withdrawal issues. I know little things that will have u off opiates in 4 days, but then u what about the pain u were taking opioda for in the first place?
