severe stomach pain ## I went to the ER on Sunday for Stomach pain more like cramps, my doctor gave me belladonna tablets, but they are not working just making me sleep. He diagnosed me with muscle spasms, I don't think this is the problem or maybe i should have been given something else ## Hi Jeannette, The pill you were given is usually used to treat grastro-intestinal disorders. You can read more information about this drug in the link below: If you were diagnosed with muscle spasms, I don't think this is the correct drug of choice either. Belladonna + Butabarbital Drug Index

Butabarbital (brand name Butisol) is a prescription barbiturate sleep aid and anxiety medication. Butabarbital has a particularly fast onset of effects and short duration of action compared to other barbiturates, which makes it useful for certain applications such as treating severe insomnia, relieving general anxiety and relieving anxiety before surgical procedures; however it is also relatively dangerous particularly when combined with alcohol, and so is now rarely used, although it is stil...

This stuff is impossible to find yet there are much stronger meds available. This is great for uncomfortable muscle spasms say if you're weaning off opiates - the belladonna at health food stores is not the same obviously. Donnatal is great for that too. Anyway, closest thing I've found is bentyl but it's not as helpful for all over discomfort - just stomach trouble when weaning - cold turkey you'll want clonidine too (aka catpres), something to allow you to sleep (God knows you can't sleep getting off stuff) - the more you sleep, the more time passes - but you can't sleep when you're stomach is A MESS, pains etc. And the all over body crawly antsy - can't explain unless you've been through - it'll make someone crazy! Depression follows and anyone...

Hello, trying to fill my script for Belladonna Alkaloids/Bellamine-S. My former physician gave to me for hot flashes and sweating which provided much needed relief. Literally, I was able to return to my normal daily functioning. This is key as I am a twenty four hour caregiver to my autistic daughter. My new provider does not believe in this, and won't prescribe for me. Nothing has changed in my drug regimen, as was with former provider. Any advice or resources you may be able to provide is most appreciated!

Is it safe to take Belladonna-Phenobarbital liquid prescription with my norco prescription? ## Hi Kim, There are actually a few moderately unsafe interactions found between Norco + Belladonna-Phenobarbital that are listed below: "Acetaminophen + Phenobarbital" -Barbiturates may increase the hepatotoxic potential of acetaminophen and decrease its therapeutic effects. This interaction is of greatest concern in cases of acetaminophen overdose. "Phenobarbital + Hydrocodone" -Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. "Belladonna + Hydrocodone" -Coadministration of narcotic analgesics with antichol...

My fiance has been prescribed this drug for a digestive problem. Lately all she does is sleep. She has almost slept for 72 hours straight. When she does get up she has no energy, tires very fast and has to go back to sleep. Could this drug be having adverse effects on her and causing these symptoms? ## Yes, such things are possible with any medication. Has she contacted her doctor? The Phenobarbital in this is a Barbiturate and if it is causing her to sleep that much and that long, then it is probably not the right medication for her to use, or she may require a lower dosage. ## Did you read the paperwork? It should tell you what it does.

why can't anyone receive donnotal or bella Alk we need these generics for low income people. i asked my pharmacist and they said it is no longer available in generics. and that is costs 500.00 dollars. ## HI, Nanny! I'm very sorry about the problem you've run into. Some medications were never actually tested and approved by the FDA, they were just grandfathered in, since they were considered safe and had been on the market for so long. However, the FDA is now insisting that they all undergo testing for approval, just as is done with all other medications and this has resulted in many companies that manufacture such generics having to remove their products from the market, because it isn't financially feasible for them to do the testing and undergo the approval process.
