I am taking Bactrim DS for an infection cellulitis due to a cut on my leg. Is this the right antibiotic given to me? ## Hi Marie, Based on my research, Bactrim DS is used for treating cellulitis infection. If I can recommend anything else to help the healing process, it would be to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and look into supplements that will boost your immune system. A good anti inflammatory supplement is Echinacea Goldenseal. Also, Tea Tree and Lavender essential oils are very good for skin related infections because they are anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. If you decide to try any of my suggestions, make sure you do plenty of your own research! I hope this helps!

sulfameth/trimethoprim 800-160 ## I have been on this drug for a week now and I have been experiencing a hard time sleeping and I wake up every hour on the hour and when I first was on it I did not sleep for four days and I never had sleeping problems before. When I do sleep I also get really weird dreams. Has anyone experienced this? ## Yes- I am having problems sleeping and weird dreams also. Ooh-well; it will stop soon. However, if your doctor says it is safe for you to have a drink or two, on occasion, or if you chose to do so anyway, you should be aware that it can cause worsening of the side effects. I had a treated uti two weeks ago I was fine until now. I have constant burning in my urethra but not when I urinate. I did a follow up with my gyno and uti was negative. Also negative for sti yeast infection and bv. She gave me bactrim just in case. I dont know if I should take it or consider I might have post infection inflammation which I dont need a anti. I have had constant burning for eight days and is getting somewhat better. Is it possible the uti test didnt show a mild infection still? I am very healthy and have no health issues. Accidentally took double dose of Bactrim DS. Is this harmful? ## Hello, Jack! How are you? Is it safe to take them at the same time? ## It is, as long as your doctor approves. They are often prescribed together, to prevent oral thrush, when someone is taking an antibiotic and is prone to developing it. My wife was diagnosed with uri due to sinusitis. Why use such a heavy duty antibiotic? So many side effects. It's used on HIV patients and to treat certain STI's. I'm assuming she has neither. I have a cut on my leg and my Dr gave me Bactrim Ds for Cellulitis infection. You could also be given painkillers if necessary. Bactrim is a pretty serious antibiotic, so I think it would be vital to use it over other options when the situation absolutely calls for it. I have swelling in my face on one side and feel like my ears are sounding like I'm in a tunnel and in pain. I have 10 pills. It says take twice a day. Also prescribed 5mg oxycodone tabs for pain. First day I felt fine after taking the Bratrim ds generic and the pain pills helped my pain. The second day i woke with a little more swelling and a headache and feeling a little nausea. I have been taking Bactrim ds from a local pharmacy, generic manufactured in US for 14 days, no problems. Just refilled rx last night from CVS, pills are from Aurobindo Pharma. I had strep throat, therefore the docter proscribed me the bactrim ds 800 - 160 , he said take 2 a day , for 10 days and I had to finish them. Today is the 5th day , but since I've been taking them my strep throat went away, but then i get fevers everyday,bad headaches,and a my stomach doesn't feel normal,I don't want to eat.
