This is an antibiotic in the sulfa class of antibiotics used to treat urinary tract infections, kidney infects, and many other types of infections like protein in the urine. It can cause anaphylactic shock if you are seriously allergic to it like I am, cause shortness of breath, hives and/or rash.

My doctor told me that Cipro or Bactim are very good for treating UTIs caused by E-Coli, but that Nitrofurantoin Mono_MCR is better than the other two for treating UTIs caused by staph infection. It is as simple as your doctor stated, different antibiotics are sometimes better at treating different things. It doesn't mean that the others can't be used, if necessary or if someone is allergic to the preferred choices, but it may take longer and be more difficult to eradicate the infection. All the ingredients of every thing bactrim has in it. Any benzodiazepines in it at all? ## No, none at all. Bactim is a combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim.are both antibiotics that treat different types of infection caused by bacteria. Benzodiazepines are used to treat anxety, panic attacks, seizures, muscle spasms and several other conditions. Benzodiazepines are not used to treat infections.

I'm currently being treated for prostatitis w/Cipro. Also have chronic epydidymitis. Originally prescribed Bactim, but showed no improvement after 4 days, so was given 60 day course of Cipro. I've researched Cipro on the internet and am now very concerned about being on a fluoroquinolone drug for such a long time. I also suffer a lot from issues related to my gut. Could I expect it to still be effective to stop the Cipro & go back & finish the Bactrim prescription now? I have completed 10 days on the Cipro and have about 6 days of pills left on the Bactrim. Meanwhile, I still have pain & symptoms related to my prostate & testicle. ## The Bactrim is more likely to cause you problems, since it is a sulfa based antibiotic and many people end up being very sensitive ...
