Anxiety Brintellix

Not too sure about Brintellix yet. Very low dose (5mg) once a day for 4 days now. One positive: more alert, and depression doesn't feel as 'depressing'. Minor nausea, headache, sleep disruptive, some racing thoughts at night. Most disappointing - a persistent low level anxiety seems present and I'm on it primarily for GAD. This med seems much less compatible for me than Klonopin prn. Was hoping for better results but will stay on Brintellix 4-5 days more to see if symptoms abate. ## How are you doing today with the Brintellix? ## @Sailorcat, From what I understand, antidepressants like Brintellix can take several days or weeks to start working as indicated. However if side effects become too unbearable, I would still suggest discussing other options with your doctor. Als...

I have been on brintellix 10mg for a little over a week and I feel worse. Flu symptoms, vomiting, very weak, tired but can't sleep. I feel more aggitated as well. It's scary. ## Hello, Rochelle! How are you feeling? All of those symptoms can be normal side effects of this medication as reported by the FDA. However, if they are so bad that they are scaring you, it may be time to contact your doctor about trying a different medication. Not every medication is right for everyone that tries it. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## I just really don't like the way I feel and the anxiety is not any better. I just plain don't feel good and don't know whether to keep going with it or not. Thank you ## I've been on Brintellix for 1.5 months and experienced vomiti...

I went from lexapro to Prozac. Prozac made me worse. Today I was prescribed Brintellix. I am terrified of taking Medicine and what it could do to me.. would it be okay to break .5mg in half just to see how I do? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's dosing instructions, thus you should ask, and if they approve, it should be fine to do so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, anxiety, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What time of the day is best to take Trintellix? In the morning or at night ? I started 2 weeks ago and I am having terrible side affects , feeling much worse than before the pills, my anxiety is the worse I have ever had, this medicine is making me so sick and feeling...

I was on 10 mg of Brintellix for about 4 months and then my doctor added 10 mg of Rexulti. I felt like i was being stimulated. He then upped my Brintellix to 20 mg and my anxiety went crazy. I was having racing thoughts and couldn't sit still. In my mind i had to be doing something all the time. I also started having panic attacks. This was only over a 2 week period. I then dropped back to 10 mg and cut my rexulti to 5 mg. I told the doctor I wanted to switch back to celexa. He told me to just stop the Brintellix and start the celexa at 10 mg. It's been about 2 weeks now and I still have panic attacks and I wake every morning feeling anxious which last most of the day until the evening. I can't handle this anxiety. I feel amped up. It's like the side effects are continui...

I've been on 10mg of Brintellix for 3 weeks now after a week of taking 5mgs. Initially the nausea was bad in the morning, but that has recently improved a lot. My experience so far is that it has drastically reduced my anxiety spikes and it's incredible to no longer be at the mercy of those horrible gripping pangs in my solar plexus. I used to drink quite a lot of wine over weekends because I found it helped with my social anxiety (despite facing the consequences of malaise the following day!) But did not feel the urge to have any wine this weekend and was not as much in need of something to relax and enjoy myself. My boyfriend complained that I was a bit of a zombie the first week or so, but I feel increasingly sharper and more able to think on my feet and remember stuff. So far I

Day 7 on 10mg Brintellix. Nausea improving. Daily neck pain and headaches. Anxiety through the roof. Not sleeping at all. Insane watery diarrhea since day 5. Need something mainly for anxiety. Not feeling hopeful about Brintellix. ## I'm very sorry that you're so miserable. Those can be normal side effects of such a medication, usually they last about 3 to 4 weeks, before tapering off and then going away entirely. You may also experience dizziness and weight changes, as reported by the FDA. Has there been any change, yet?

i have been on 5mg of Brintellix for a week for anxiety and depression. My doctor wants me to go up to 10mg. She said the drug should also help me with focus. I still feel anxious and a little dull witted. I have burned food on the stove twice which is a rarity for me. It mentions in the warnings not to drive a car until I know the full effect of the Brintellix. Now, how realistic is that? Now I am nervous about driving my grandkids. So much for helping my anxiety. I am now nervous about going up to 10mg. I know this drug probably will not take effect for a few weeks but I am not sure if I should continue. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Unfortunately, you'll get that same warning with almost all medications, due to the fact that there's a risk of them making you dizzy and drowsy. ...

I stopped taking Brintellix because I couldn't take the vomiting anymore and other issues that my doctor said were side effects of this medicine over the past 3 months and I just suddenly stopped taking it and now I'm experiencing extremely bad anxiety that I can't manage and can't sleep more than a few hours a night. What is going on with me? Will I get over this on my own? ## Hello, Missy! How are you? Yes, withdrawal type effects can be normal, after taking it for a few months and then stopping abruptly. It would have been best to taper off of it. However, they will eventually stop, but it may take a few weeks. Are you feeling any better, yet? ## I have been taking brintellex for 7 weeks 10 mg a day my doctor gave. Me samples and did not tell me the cost. I can't ...

I have been on Trintellix 20 mg for quite some time, my pshychiatrist started tapering me off gradually ,during this process i experience several symptoms that were listed but also noticed problems of paronoia and now that i have stopped taking trintellix the paronoia has sky rocketed as well as the anxiety and vomiting has anyone experienced a problem with paronoia while being TAPERED OFF of trintellix or once they completely STOPPED taking trintellix? ## That is possible, depending on how long you were taking it and how rapid the taper was, it might have been too fast for you. In many cases, stopping such a medication needs to be tapered very slowly, and occasionally, it must be adjusted according to how each individual reacts to the taper. The NIH also warns that stopping the medicat...

Female. 58 yrs. old. Major Depressive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder & General Anxiety following vehicle accident. On Effexor XR for 6 yrs. (highest dosage 187.5 mg, lowest dosage managed 112.5 mg). It did not work well for me but better than nothing. I began titrating from Effexor xr to Brintellix on Jan. 18, 2015. Effexor finished on Feb. 15th. Increased Brintellix from 10 to 15mg six days ago. I popped out of bed at 6:00 a.m. this morning happy & motivated (had 9 hours of good quality sleep). Then at 1:00 p.m. I became incredibly irritable (definitely not my nature). Will this irritability pass as it is scarey and not nice for my family to be around me? ## I too have been irritable for about 2 months. I have been taking 10 mg for a month and before that I took 5 mg ...

I tapered off Effexor XR and onto 10mg Brintellix. No withdrawal symptoms - seamless transition. I have been on Brintellix now for about 3 weeks. I have to say I feel more alert, my anxiety is low, my sleep is better. So far so good. I had to stop taking Tramadol and Buspar to avoid the interaction but have had no need for the Buspar since and I can just take another opiod pain killer if I need to. Did not experience the nausea that seems to be the most common side effect. Keep your fingers crossed. ## Awesome! I am very glad that it's working so well for you. Can you post back and update me? Thanks! Do you have any questions or concerns? ## Hi I will be trying Brintellix soon to get ease the depression and anxiety from tapering Effexor. How are you doing now. I need help desperatel...

My doctor has started me on Brintellix 10mg as I have tried a number of well known antidepressants over the years & found none give me complete remission. I suffer with MDD & Anxiety, which I believe stems from PTSD. I found that when we found one that worked, by 6 months I had built a resistance to it & it was no longer effective. They also made me gain weight which only added to feelings of self loath. I am on day 5 with Brintellix. I had ceased all antidepressants at least 4 weeks before commencing this treatment. Day 1: I was extremely sick with anxiety prior to my taking the Brintellix. I did feel nausea about 40-50mins after but I felt it take the edge of the anxiety. Day 2: nausea persisting but bearable. Yucky taste in my mouth, did start salivating soon after taking...

I have Bipolar, PTSD, Panic Disorder/Agoraphobia. I'm on 20mg and two months in. Since taking it I have gone to parties, socialized, smile more often, no more insomnia, clearer thinking, more motivation, optimistic/planning for the future, and best of all completely calm! No panic attacks in months vs as many as 4/day (on average 4/week). No manic symptoms, no side effects. I had a few gastro symptoms at first but they went away. I noticed a significant improvement each time I raised my dose. It took about 6 weeks to notice a major change in my anxiety, but now I feel normal. Way better than even benzos in my case, and I can think on this drug. I have been taking antidepressants since 1991 and this one is by far the best for me. It's worth a try, but like any drug it's not f...

I was prescribed this for anxiety and it is working very well for me. I have been through several drugs and for the first time I felt hopeful. I went to denist and found out this medication is sending my blood pressure through the roof. No issues with blood pressure prior to this. This was the only change. I'm really scared to get off it. Is there anything that I can do? ## Are you sure it's due to this medication? Elevated blood pressure is not a listed side effect among FDA or user reports. They typically include symptoms, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. It is always possible to develop high blood pressure, without being aware of it and there isn't always an direct cause to attribute it to. Does anyone else in your family hav...

DESPERATELY NEED HELP ABOUT BRINTELLIX!!! I have been on 5mg Brintellix for last 10 weeks. About 9 days About 9 days ago I started to feel like i was coming down with flu. week progressed and flu like symptoms got worse every day: flushing, feeling like i had high fever but without actual fever, agitation, muscle cramps, bad nausea, diahrrea all day long, fast heart beat, headache, etc. after several days of symptoms getting worse, on Sunday last I had the feeling i was going to DIE!!! worst flu like symptoms and severe anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. I skipped the sunday dose and then cut the monday dose down to 2.5mg. it is wednesday, and most of bad symptoms have gone to mild or moderate. Dr thinks i had case of serotonin syndrome n this med. But, no one can explain why si...

I've been on 20 mg for 7 months, working awesome but now I feel it's time to get off it. My choice would be to stop it cold turkey. Had anyone else done this yet, and how hard/easy was it? ## That's usually not a good idea after taking it for months, because according to the U.S. FDA, it could cause you to experience withdrawal effects, which may include nausea, diarrhea, headache, rebound depression, pain, and anxiety. A slow taper would be the best choice. Why do you want to stop it, if it is working so well for you? ## Hi, I just didn't want to be on pills anymore. Update, I did stop taking it CT, I did have the side effects they said, albeit reasonably mild and only a few days. My Dr wanted me back on it but it was up to me. I just started back on it at 10 mg but I...

Hello, I started Brintellix 4 weeks ago. I started with 5mg and tapered off Effexor over the next 2 weeks (bad reaction to Effexor). The switch from Effexor to Brintellix wasn't as bad as I thought, neither was the increase to 10 mg. I was on the 10mg for 2 weeks with a marked improvement in my overall condition (anxiety and depression). Anxiety was non existent and, although still difficult, I began to be able to function better. I updated my doctor and he recommended increasing the dose to 15mg. This was yesterday and it was hell. For an hour or so I felt more upbeat, lighter on my feet. It felt like this was it, this is what's going to work at long last. But then I experienced a sudden, what I would describe as, a crash. I became very anxious and very depressed. The fact that...

Hi everyone, Please can someone help me? 4 weeks ago I increased dosage of brintellix to 20mg (bc I started feeling very low again) after taking 10mg since December and finding improvement. After 4 weeks of still feeling low, I have suddenly started feeling nausea and general sickness. Is this normal after 4 weeks of increased dose? Thanks in advance. The gp I spoke to about increasing had not even heard of the med before so I doubt she would have been able to advise on side effects of increasing unfortunately.. here in uk it's still a relatively new drug. ## Yes, if you increase your dosage, it is normal to experience more side effects for awhile, they usually taper off, after about 4 to 5 weeks, according to NIH reports. You may also experience anxiety, and weight changes. Are you...

I recently was prescribed Trintellix by my psychiatrist for anxiety and depression. I told her I cannot be on a medication that will cause weight gain and or fluid retention. Since starting this medication I've been on it for two days I feel really weird, lazy and like I just don't want to do anything. Low mood. I honestly have zero appetite, and my cognitive thinking is very slow. I honestly feel like I am on a super low dose of Vyvanse. She also gave me samples of Viibryd but I heard that medication is notorious for weight gain on here and I am scared to take it. Did anyone else have these side effects when starting this medication? Did they go away? Also, if this isn't the medication for me, does anyone else know what others are good that will not cause horrible weight ga...

I started on 5mgs of Brintellix in February. All my anxiety was gone after the first few days but my depression remained bad. I gradually brought my dose up to 20mg 6 weeks ago and yesterday my depression was almost gone. I also have roller-coaster downs on this tab. Hopefully it's kicked in. The only thing is I can't sleep. I take Zolpidem 10mg at 12am and Urbanol 10mg when I wake up at 3:30am. My sleep is restless as I look after my mom and dad in their 80's. My mom has silent stroke dementia, so my day is very stressful. I'm in a bad mood which is not normal for me but think it's stress from caring for my folks. I keep thinking I should try going off Brintellix and see if I'll do any better... ## Most of the medications in this class can cause that for a few w...
