Insomnia can have natural causes, or it can be caused by other medical conditions and if that is the case, you will need proper treatment for such a condition, in order to rectify the problem. Some medications used to treat it require a doctor's prescription, while some are available over the counter, however, since I don't know what country you are in, I don't know what your exact options are. Many over the counter products use Diphenhydramine as their active ingredient, since it is an antihistamine that causes drowsiness as a side effect. ## i just want to know about the tablets like alprax .. for my knowledge ...and suggest me in every posible way

I have been given Purata as a subsittute for Fluntrazpam which was suddenly taken off the market. I have a severe sleeping disorder that kept me on Fluntrazpan for 24 years. Purata is not performing the function and as a consequence I am being vert sleep deprived. What other medication is available to perform the function of Fluntrazpan that you can recommend ? I am 79 years old ! ## I am in South Africa where I have found the Purtata prescribed to be totally inadequate to aliviate insomnia, but I have found Dormicum and Arem to be adequate substitutes for Royhepnol and Fluntrazpam......... Arem is one fith the cost of Dormicium here but may go under different names elsewhere.

If I sleep without taking a drug with soporific effect, I have electic like current beam rising from just under the back of neck as if the death approached all of a sudden. I was diagnosed by two different physciatrists with severe ADD. I lose thing, I can't rememer dates, appointments, times, names. I am thinking maybe long acting Ritalin would help me more. I TOOK ALL AT ONCE & STILL CANT SLEEP :( ## Endo and Teva are both pharmaceutical manufacturers, not the names of any medications, so this doesn't inform anyone of what you actually took. And regarding any of them, including the Ambien, if you're taking more than your doctor has prescribed, you are putting yourself in danger of overdose. Rather than taking more and more of any given medication, you need to consult your doctor for assistance, you likely need to try something else. How often do you suffer from insomnia?
