I have been theophylline er is being discontinued. Is this true? Have taken for years for asthma. ## Hello, Terri! How are you? I've not found anything about it being discontinued. Where you told that by a pharmacist or did it come from some other source? There were a couple that were discontinued back in 2003, due to the fact that it's rarely prescribed, anymore. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEOPHYLLINE SA AND THEOPHYLLINE ER... ## Hello, Gisela! How are you? There is no difference, they are both just abbreviations that designate it as being a time released formulation of the medication. There are quite a few that the pharmaceutical industry can pick from. The SA stands for sustained action and the ER for extended release. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including diarrhea, nausea and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

Plenish K is a potassium supplement used to prevent the potassium loss that may happen, when someone is on medications to remove excess fluid from the body.
