It may be used to treat severe high blood pressure in pregnancy. Its use in preterm labor may allow more time for steroids to improve the baby's lungs and time to transfer the mother to a well qualified medical facility before delivery. Nifedipine is taken by mouth and ...

Long term use of adalat
1 Reply RSS
I have been taking adalat for 21 years now. In the last 3 years I have lived a healthier lifestyle. My BP has been great. So my doctor said I could ween myself off of medicine. What type of withdrawal symptoms can I expect to have? ## Hello, Jan! How are you doing? The FDA lists the typical ones as possibly including nausea, headache, elevated heart rate and elevated blood pressure. That's why you need to be very careful to wean off slowly, because it will help prevent your heart rate and blood pressure from hitting dangerous levels. Is there anything else I can help with?

incomplete dissolve and absorbtion of medication
2 Replies RSS
I started Nifedipine XR 30 mg last Friday, June 10,2016. I realize the tablet shells do not dissolve but I think the entire pill with the undissolved and unabsorbed medication is passing through my system. My blood pressure has not gone down since I started it 6 days ago. I happened to swallow a dental crown the same day I started the medication and have, unfortunately, been trying to retrieve my $900 crown so that I will not have to buy another. In this effort I have found 4 pills, each time thinking it was my crown, and upon inspection found the yellow medicine still inside each pill. My doc says I have absorbed the medicine but told me to double the dosage to 60 mg/day and was insulted when I mentioned the pharmacist told me to ask for a different medication. I have before and after ...

Nifedipine, how long before begins to take effect?
1 Reply RSS
I have just been prescribed this for Raynauds. 5mgs 3 times a day. Any idea how long before they begin to take effect? Another sleepless night with the pain from blue fingers. Never known any pain like this. Can't even tie a shoelace. Wearing 2 gloves on the affected hand and a hot water bottle but doesn't seem to be helping. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It may take 5 to 6 weeks, before this medication reaches its full level of effectiveness in your body. It's typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension, as reported by the FDA. That's odd for Raynaud's, it usually affects both hands at the same time, or both feet. Are you on an...

White Round Pill With M On One Side And N E 30 The Other
2 Replies RSS
I'm trying to see if my prescription has been filled correctly. This pill is white, round, the number 30 and N E on one side, the letter M on the other. This was refilled for a prescription I've been taking for years called NIFEdipine (also known as Adalat) only I have never had this pill, it's normally a round pinkish pill. ## Ashlyee, it is normal for your pharmacy to switch the tablets they provide you with, depending on what manufacturer was offering the cheapest prices at the time they had to restock their supply. This is how they keep the generic prices as low as possible for customers without insurance. That said, yes, the tablet you received does contain 30mgs of Nifedipine, so you have received the correct medication. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I...

Brown round pill with the number 30 on one side and the letter B pn the other side ## Hello, Carlotta! How are you? There is a tablet listed by Teva Pharmaceuticals that matches this description, it's kind of a dark mustard color, they list as containing 30mgs of Nifedipine and it's sold under the trade name Nifediac CC. This is classified by the FDA as a calcium channel blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

nifedipine and dreams.
3 Replies RSS
I am taking 60mg of nifedipine and I am having unpleasant dreams every night. Is there an alternative which does not have this side effect? ## Hello, Mick! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're experiencing. That is possible with most medications. How long have you been taking it? Most side effects tend to go away, once your body gets used to a medication, which generally takes about 4 to 5 weeks. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. There are other medications available, so if it's still happening and it's been longer than 5 weeks, it will most likely just be a matter of trial and error to find one that doesn't cause you such an issue. ## I've been taking nifedip...
