I have had low thyroid hormone levels for a long time and may have some hopeful advice to others out there. Read about your disease on the internet and understand how you acquired low thyroid hormones. Find the list of symptoms one expects to see over time if unmedicated and the dangers of undiagnosed hypothyroidism. I have chronic migraines and the first time I took the medication for hypothyroidism i suffered an on-going migraine. So, I remained unmedicated until I was sure I couldn't stand it any more - the side effects I mean. I developed many of the symptoms that come with hypothyroidism and they are very difficult. I have acne, arthritis, thinning hair, chronic sleeping, weak and tired, dry eyes, slow metabolism and obesity, depression or for me lack of desire and motivation, ...

Stopping Levothyroxine

I have been taking Levothyroxine .88mg for the past two years. I just left town on a three week vacation and realized I left this prescription at home. Should I be concerned? ## If you suddenly stop taking Levothyroxine, your body can go through withdrawal. "Levothyroxine withdrawal may cause hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid. Hypothyroidism causes weight gain, fatigue, depression and sensitivity to cold because your body does not have enough thyroid hormone so your body processes slow down. Patients with thyroid cancer may suffer acute hypothyroidism because of levothyroxine withdrawal." Referenced from: livestrong.com/article/levothyroxine-withdrawal Since you've been taking this medication for so long, I would consider contacting your doctor about this if you have be...

And overdose of any medication is dangerous and risks death, organ damage and other serious health repercussions. Levothyroxine and Ringing in the Ears

I was recently diagnosed with Hypothyroidism after having my thyroid tested and my TSH was 5.9. I have been taking Levothyroxine since the end of June. The middle of July I started having non-stop ringing in my ears and still continues. I also have experienced severe hair loss and cannot put weight ON. Is it okay to stop taking Levo to see if the ringing in my ears stop? I really don't want to be on this medication, but don't want to cause additional issues as I'm getting married soon. I've taken this medication on and off for years. New endo- thought we should try again, despite my very educated disapproval. Switched from armour to levo-112mcg and cytomel (t3) -5mcg. I almost forgot what it felt like to be so ill. It's only been a week, but it's been horrific. Heartburn, cramps, nausea, painful bloating, night sweats (let me rephrase, more like night swimming.) And yes, more acne. At almost 40, I look like a 15 yr. old pubescent boy. Charming. This is morning sicknesses and intestinal flu all wrapped up in a pretty pink pill. So for those of you that are new to this, its a long haul, and there are other meds out there. Be persistent, if after two months symptoms do no subside-look further. Some of us just can not tolerate this sorry excuse of a medication...

I was recently diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. I have been taking levothyroxine for almost two weeks. For the last four or five days I have had a weird feeling. It is hard to explain. I don't really feel dizzy but I get a strange feeling in my head. I guess you would describe it as a head rush. Has anyone else had this feeling and will it go away as my body adjusts to the levothyroxine? ## yes i would get that every morning after i took my pills and drank coffee. I think its inmortant to eat a little over an hour after to avoid the dizziness. It does go away though. ## Levothyroxine Info and Side effects Click Here ## my pharmactist changed my thyroid pills because my insurance doesn't cover my other ones. These pills were prescribed for my wife. It says Levothyroxine 50mcg on the bottle label. It has sodium as well. We got it from walmart. ## The actual name of the medication is Levothyroxine Sodium, that doesn't mean it actually contains any significant amount of sodium, that just designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from, you may see some other medication generic names followed by Hydrochloride, or Sulfate. This medication is used to treat thyroid disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, mood changes, and hair loss. Is there anything else I can help with?

I don't feel so confused anymore. Now I know all of you are going through the same thing. My doctor put me on 50mcg of Levothyroxine about a month ago and I have gain 8 pounds! I get short-breathed and winded REALLY easily when working out. I used to go to the gym for 2 hours, now I can't make it longer than 30 minutes. I wake up ALL the time with tingly fingers because my hands have fallen asleep. I have headaches, I feel 100 times more lazy than before...and it's supposed to help your energy, not drain it. I e-mailed my doctor today, this is not making me happy. Not to mention I now have an acne type rash that burns like hell on my chin and I've always had clear skin. If this drug is supposed to make you feel better it sure as sh*t isn't working for me. I feel like...
