I suffer from IC. My urologist said this was once used for seizures? However he said that it may help control all the spasms I have associated with interstitial cystitis. Any info helpful. Thanks! ## Hello, Rinrin! How are you? Dicyclomine is approved to treat intestinal hyper motility and the symptoms of IBS. It relieves spasms and cramping in the GI tract. I am not, however, aware of it ever being used to treat seizures, only GI issues. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including dry mouth, nausea and dizziness. Have you tried it, yet?

Just had gallbladder removed and had papillary stenosis which they perform a sphinctoromy. This illness started at the end of July. Gallbladder out 5 weeks ago. Sphinctoromy 1 week ago. I went from 132 to 118 from July till now. How can I gain my weight back? ## Hello, Kay! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you've had. Do you have any dietary restrictions, since having the surgery? It will likely just be a matter of time, making sure that you eat good, healthy meals frequently. Rather than just 3 times a day, you may want to eat more often, if your doctor approves. I've found that nuts, like almonds, tend to help me a lot, when my weight drops and my cardiologist highly approves of my eating them, since they have many health benefits. Does anyone else have any a...

How Long Will Dicyclomine Hcl Remain Usable Past Expiration Date

how long will dicyclomine hcl remaine usable past expiration date ## Once a medication has expired, it is best to just dispose of it properly. There is no information available to let you know how long it still remains viable and effective past its expiration. The available data for when it expires is just derived from data that only shows the maximum time range for which effectiveness can be guaranteed in regular storage conditions. They are not required to do further testing beyond that and, since they want to see more of any given medication, it wouldn't actually make sense for them to do so. I'm sorry that I don't have a better answer for you. However, once it is expired, it starts to lose effectiveness and should be replaced with new product. Are there any other questio...

I have had intestinal gas for some time: asked my primary care doctor whether there was something simple I could take as I had read that over-the counter meds were not safe. He prescribed dicyclomine 10 mg nightly. The list of side effects sound daunting. What do you recommend? I am quite elderly. ## Hello, Tomyris! How are you? This isn't going to help with gas, as a matter of fact, in other countries, they combine it with an antiflatulent medication to present a medication that helps with more symptoms. This works as a smooth muscle relaxer for the intestines to treat intestinal hypermotility and IBS. Unless you have some medical condition or are on medications that causes them to be contraindicated, over the counter products, such as Simethicone, are generally considered safe. It...

cyclopam & weight gain

cyclopam using really leads to weight gain?? ## Hi Kimmy, From what I could gather, Cyclopam contains the active ingredients Dicyclomine 20mg + Paracetamol 500mg. As far as weight gain is concerned, neither ingredient appears to list that as a possible side effect. However Dicyclomine on the other hand does list "gas or bloating" on the webpage for the US National Library of Medicine. Would you describe your weight gain as a feeling of fullness in the belly? If so, perhaps some digestive enzymes and probiotics may help alleviate those symptoms. I hope this helps!
