Azithromycin Overview

Azithromycin is an antibiotic useful for the treatment of bacterial infections. It is an azalide, a subclass of macrolide antibiotic. It is derived from erythromycin, with a methyl-substituted nitrogen atom incorporated into the lactone ring, thus making the lactone ring 15-membered. Azithromycin is somewhat more potent against certain bacterial species than erythromycin, but its widespread popularity arises primarily from its slow elimination from the body, which allows many infections to be...

I have 6 pills in sealed container. I believe it's for 5 days. What is the recommended dosage? ## I want to know the dosage of AZITROMICINA. I have 6 capsules of 500 mgs. Please reply asap. thank you, kindly. ## Azithromycin is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections. Before using it, you should see a doctor to confirm that you have an infection. If you use it and you do not, you run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. The normal dosage is 2 tablets on the first day, then one tablet on days 2 to 5. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea. I was wondering whether I could take these pills for a sinus infection? ## Hello, Yvonne! How are you? As listed by the FDA, this contains the antibiotic Azithromycin, which is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, you shouldn't take it, unless your doctor has confirmed the presence of an infection, because taking it improperly creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Is there anything else I can help with?

This is listed by the FDA as containing the antibiotic Azithromycin, which is used to treat bacterial infections. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It will only treat bacterial infections, so it could help, if you have a sinus infection, but it will not do anything to treat a cold, since they are caused by viruses. Taking it inappropriately creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, ...

broncitis

Im taking azithromycin 250 mg 5 day dose for broncitis and is it also safe to take benadryl with it? ## Hi Dana, Sorry to hear about the bronchitis. According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between azithromycin and benadryl (diphenhydramine). I found this to be the case on other webpages as well, which this leads me to believe that it should be fine to take the two together, provided that your doctor gives you the ok. I hope this info helps! And feel better soon!

Azitromicina 500mg: National Drug Code?
4 Replies RSS
At the suggestion of a hotel doctor I bought Azitromicina 500mg for the treatment of a chest infection in MX. Tried to submit a claim for the cost via my US insurance as they say they reimburse worldwide RX expenses. But now they want the 11 digit 'national drug code' or no payout. I checked the FDA NDC database but: 1. it states all NDC's are 10 digit and: 2. obviously this is not a US product and therefore not in there. How can I find what I need to get my costs back? It is Zertalin Azitromicina 500mg (Collins Farmaceuticos) 6 tablets in a white jar with silver/black/blue label. The pharmacist 'said' it was a 2 course pack for 3 days I.E. 1 tablet per day for 3 days (2 courses contained). Is this correct also? I usually have known ZPak or Azithromycin to be 2 on th...

azitromicina usage

Can this product be used if person is diabetic ## Hi Clint, From what I could gather, Azitromicina (Azithromycin) does not list any contraindications against patients who have diabetes. So based off this information alone, I don't see any reason why it can't be used. However depending on the manufacturer, it may still be a good idea to double check the list of "inactive" ingredients for any artificial sweeteners like sucrose that diabetics could be sensitive to. On one last note, because this information is not a substitute for medical advice I'd always encourage you to talk with your doctor first before taking anything you are unsure of, especially if you have a pre-existing condition. I hope this helps!

azithromycin tooth ache

Will Azithromicina 500 mg work for impacted tooth as well? ## Hi Johnny, From what I could gather, Azithromycin is commonly prescribed for dental related infections. However if the tooth needs to be extracted (perhaps via root canal) due to decay or nerve damage, my understanding is that an antibiotic will only help for so long until you get the necessary procedure(s) done. And to help address your other question about an impacted tooth, Azithromycin fights infections throughout your body and not just one specific area, so it really should cover all basis where an infection is present and not just a single tooth. Have you already gone to the dentist for an evaluation?
