Pain Medication Troy Mi

Updated

FYI: Most of these pain clinics will not take patient who pays CASH. Apparently they believe that if you pay cash, you are sketchy and just looking for a high. Maybe if they were in my situation(husband makes $10 a hour and insurance is $498 a month and I am fighting for disability so I make no money and have no insurance) they would quit judging people. SICK of being looked at like a junkie! I am in so much pain I honestly am thinking I would be better off dead. :(

Hi! I'm very sorry that you're suffering, but death is definitely not the answer. All that would do is hurt the people that care about you. Having almost died from heart failure several years ago, I can assure you that it is not a pleasant experience.

The reason they don't want to take cash patients is due to the fact that many people do that to doctor hop, which would be seeing several doctors to get multiple pain medication prescriptions.

If you have any large hospitals in your area, I'd suggest contacting their social work department. In many cases they have programs that can assist low-income people to get the care they need. For instance in the Seattle area, we have one that basically acts as insurance, which eliminates the worry of a doctor refusing to see you due to not having coverage. In many cases they can also help with a disability claim and maybe expedite the process.

There may also be low-income clinics in you area that may be able to help. They often look at your income, so they see why you don't have insurance and why you have to pay cash, thus they aren't so hesitant about helping, since everything is documented. If they can't help, they can usually refer you to another doctor that can.

I have been there, so I know how depressing and frustrating it can be, thus I do sincerely wish you the best.

Can you post back and let me know how you're doing? :-)

Hi! Things are better. I was referred to an awesome, caring doctor by a friend. He charges $80 a month for a visit and I do have to pay for my meds cash, but at least he understands what I am going through and he knows I am in pain. Also...GREAT NEWS I finally won my disability case. They are going to have to give me back pay for the last 7 years! I also just got my Medicare card. I did a happy dance! Who knew that a little card could mean that much? I am on a great regimen of pain meds and my quality of life is better. My doctor and I work together to make sure I am controlling the pain, but not taking so much that it is damaging my kidneys, etc... I still have pain, but it is pain that I can live with. Though if I do too much I really suffer for a couple days where I end up in bed, so no long walks for me. I am going to put in a pool for exercise though as I know it helps to keeps moving. Thank you for your words of kindness. Being in pain is so darn hard. Other people can't tell really when you have such pain and they just don't understand how debilitating it is! I do have a supportive husband and family though so I promise I am not thinking of ending my life. You are right...that it would hurt the ones I left and it is the coward's way out. I don't want to hurt my children or husband like that. Thanks again.
