I would obviously only make changes under close supervision and counsel from my doctor, and do your best to find another option other than clonazapam, if at all possible, for the addictive quatlities and withdrawl can be devastating, or it was for me! The eventual tolerance after 6 years of daily use for sleep, the bodies dependance and need for more in order to work caused me extensive and intense anxiety (especially once it no longer worked). For me, the withdrawl effects lead to long term hospitalization and eventual deep dark depression, followed by ECT treatments. Maybe I came off to fast, but it most definitely stopped working for me and lead to severe anxiety and depression. I'm forever grateful that I'm now off the drug and will NEVER take it again. I take Trazadone, now, and there are other drugs that can help much better than this potentially destructive drug. I only wish someone would of warned me, or that the pyschiatrists would of NEVER offered this to me and further, that they would of educated me on the dangers of depandance of this drug. Please do yourself a favor and talk to your doctor about other options. Others, I've heard stay on it for years and never come off of it, but please do your research.... Good luck!

I've been prescribed clonazapam for 10 years. Most of those year I was taking 4 a day. When I dropped to 2mgs a day, it still had the same effect. Don't try to over do it or under do it to build up a tolerance. The thing with tolerance is we would all be up to at least 100mgs a day which is unheard of. If you are on 2mgs a day, either take a 2mg pill a night or space it out with 1mg in the am and one in the pm. It does it's job and helps with sleep. You just won't feel the 'euphoria' after awhile. That's why it's an xyz drug.

I was on 1MG 3X a day for almost 4 years and found it was doing NOTHING for me. The only option I had was to take MORE to get the help I felt I was receiving in the first place. I moved UP to 2 MG at night to help me sleep and felt that I was STILL not receiving the benefit from the medication... At this point I started coming OFF the drug, as I knew I would just keep building a tolerence to it. It took me being off of it for almost 2 month before I tried taking anything else and now I take Xanax. I find it helps me more than the Clonzapam did...just a me thing. My point here is that 2MG is alot actually. My DR was trying to keep me away from moving up in dosage for a long time simply because the pill will NOT give your body the same effects after being on it awhile and you become more and more dependent on it. It soon becomes darn near impossible to get off the drug because you are a full fledge addict. If you notice you are not receiving the benefit from the drug you will only have to take MORE of it. I would suggest trying something else before I would continue to take more and more of the drug!!
