I am wondering if the prescription methyprednisolone is similiar to the herb MSM

I have a lot of trouble with my hip and became nearly incapacitated this past summer when my hip rocked back on me.Chiropractic treatment helped, but I still struggle with pain and mobility issues. I was given methylprednisolone for a rash in my leg about two months later, and I felt like a teenager again-even ebing able to have a foot race with my son. I was wondering if the natura remedy of MSM was similiar to the methyprednisolone.

No, they are not similar.

Methylprednisolone is steroid class medication, it probably helped with your mobility issues, because it tends to shrink swelling and inflammation.

That would lead me to guess that part of your problem with pain and mobility is due to inflammation in your hip joint.

MSM stands for Methylsulfonylmethane, which is a supplement claimed to help with many health problems, including joint mobility.

There are some natural products on the market that are believed to help with inflamamtion, so you might want to try some of them and see if they help, however, be sure to check with your doctor first.

But those believed to have natural anti-inflammatory properties include:

Boswell, Ginger, Turmeric, Fish Oil and White Willow Bark.

Most of these can be found in any natural product store.
