Hello, Frederick! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having.
Do you practice good sleep hygiene? That's what virtually any doctor is going to want to you to do for awhile, before you resort to medications.
Things that are considered necessary for good sleep hygiene include:
*Avoiding napping during the day.
*Avoid stimulants, such as alcohol, caffeine and nicotine close to bed time.
*Get lots of exercise.
*Stay away from large meals, before sleeping.
*Ensure adequate exposure to natural light to help condition your body clock.
*Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine.
*Associate your bed with sleep, not TV, reading, surfing the net or other activities.
*Keep a regular sleep schedule
