I Have Never Posted Before But I Need Some Advice About My Meds

i have chronic pain in my lower abdomen it took me years an 19 surgerys sound my current pain dr and he was giving me roxicodone 15 mg 4 time a day for about 6 months recently changed me to 30 mg kadian 2x day and 2 mg diluadid 4x day dilaudid does not work and kadian works very little roxicodone worked better but did not bring my pain down to tolerable levels recently is the liquid dilaudid better than the pill should i ask my dr for the fentanyl lollys please help i a lot of pain i have read stuff about snorting and other things with the dilaudid i just want my pain under control thank you

There is actually a time released Fentanyl patch that you may want to talk to your doctor about using, there are 2 doses available and it may help you better than the other medications.

Those lollypops caused a LOT of teeth decay....Verwon is correct. The patch may be better...

Apparently the Atiq lollipops were changed to sugar-free due to many problems with undisclosed risks related to brutal decay. You have the double whammy of dry mouth and sugar - what did they think would happen? I think it's sad that there is not time for doctors to better educate their patients on the risks versus benefits of these very strong meds. We, as patients, need to accept the responsibility of getting this information for ourselves. I was young when I became ill and now that I am likely facing my last remission, it has been much more difficult b/c NOT one doctor explained tolerance to me until it was too late. I just didn't want to feel any pain and why should I when there are meds to stop it but there's a catch in that eventually those meds will quit working and not every doctor will increase to therapeutic levels until you agree to enter hospice and I'm not ready emotionally so now I have to suffer terribly b/c I didn't know any better. Please use these meds carefully, you think it won't happen to you but it can and it does every day and when you think you are at a 10 but then I am at a 10 now and I can tell you now that my 10 5 years ago was a 4 and I'd kill for that 4 back! Be careful, you are only worried about today and getting your meds for whatever reason, not judging, but then cancer can happen and you want your meds to work for that and if you are careless or even just lax, it will make the rest of your life's quality less than it could have been.
