Detox Xanax, Etc.

Be extremely careful with this matter. You're literally playing with death if done improper. You are at a high risk of seizures and withdrawl may take a week or so. I was in jail on 120 mg. of methadone and taking only 2 2mg of xanax daily. Within three days I was admitted to the icu unit of a local hospital for nearly a week. I absolutely knew nothing- not even how to eat. I had had a severe seizure. Loading someone up with phenabarbs every couple of hours for approximately 12 hours at first, then prn for two or three days, is perhaps the best way to go. Remember, xanax is Life threatening. Most other drug withdrawal is not with the exception of alcohol.

I freaked an E.R doctor out when I finally decided to present myself, about one week into a withdrawal. He couldn't believe I could talk with him as I was in 'Walking Critical' condition. I knew why I was there but also felt if I mentioned Xanax they would kick me out. Instead I was invited to stay the entire week!

I saw where someone asked how to detox properly from 4 mg of Xanan daily. If this is correct-amd I'm assuming they are prescribed, I would suggust .5 mg. daily decrease a week. That is an entire month of detox and should be sufficient. And, this. too, if you have been on them for a moderate time only. Now, I realize that all of us have anxiety and our bodies handle the same meds differently. Lastly, if you still desire benzo's for what-ever- reason, ask your dr. for klonipin. It is in the same class of drugs as Xanan but is long lasting, doesn't have a bad name, easier on the body but neverless, is easier to get than Xanax, which is short lasting. Dr's refer to it as "old school medecine." Lastly, I apolize for being off the forum so long. With Bonoroo and other activities happing here in middle Tennnessee .....not to forget Mick Jagger & Stones, I've taken the liberty to enjoy life and relax a little.Wish you well. Twinn
