I am an alcoholic and have been since I was about 18. I am now 69 and I don't want to die drunk. HBO had a program called Asiction and this drug was used to help the brain pressthe stop button before the first drink. I want to speak to my dr. about it. I use no other drugs except prescribed. Thank you so much!

I have an addictive son. We have been in an after care progran since August 2007. We viewed an AA film one night that mentioned Bacafin as a medication to assist in decision making. Anyone with info on Bacafin, please respond. Who is the manufacturer, how does it work, side affects etc. Thanks.

Sorry, I have searched several databases and cannot find anything listed under this name. I am not sure if the spelling or perhaps the drug name is wrong.
Having viewed a film on it, it is also possible it may still be in a testing phase or it may be a foreign drug that is not available in the U.S. yet.

Librium is a benzo commonly used to treat alcoholism. I have been taking it for almost 2o years & it does help. The doctors are not prescribing benzo's much, unless you are a serious alcoholic,etc: meaning seizures with withdrawels.
