Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that's most commonly used to treat UTIs, it is not generally effective at treating the bacteria that cause ear infections.

As to vertigo, it depends on what is causing that to occur. If it's due to an ear infection, then the ear infection will need to be properly treated for the vertigo to be resolved.
