Walmart Switch Pill

Updated

Walmart switched my clonazepam to ipl from teva and it does not seem to work as well. First why would they do this and has anyone else had the same problem

I do know about changes like this with prescriptions. Pharmacies are always searching for a cheaper deal every time reordering. Of course I don't know any of them that care about how good they are either.I never had luck with requesting another company instead of the one they choose to give you, but some will have a few companies including the name brand.people have been granted that request. It's terrible the treatment most of us get like this. Unless you got the bucks for name brand. Not many meds are all just generics. I've seen a few and this is because they choose not to.

Tom, they are both generics. It is not unusualy for pharmacys to change the generics that they carry.

The same thing happened to me. The pharmacies definitely do order whatever generic is the cheapest at the time. My pharmacist told me they do that because insurance companies will only reimbursed the pharmacy for the lowest price generic. So if they order one that's more expensive, it comes out of their pocket. Well when they switched me to the cheaper generic, not only did it not work but I had a bad reaction to it. It made me nauseous and have a bad headache. Of course the pharmacist promised it was the same thing I was taking just a different manufacturer. My arms and chest got like hives kinda so I called my pharmacy and told them about it and they agreed to return the medication. They special ordered my scrip from the manufacturer that I was using previously. It came the next day and was totally worth the wait. So if you tell them that you had a bad reaction to that manufacturer they will special order the one of your choice. All the generics have the same active ingredient but the inactive ingredients are different. That's what could cause you to feel different. I use Target/CVS Pharmacy. If Walmart won't special order for you, I would definitely go elsewhere. I've also had good luck at the smaller mom and pop pharmacies. They tend to have better customer service in my opinion. Hope that helps.
