Verapamil 240 Er (Top voted first)

Updated

I have been taking Verapamil 240 ER for many years. It works fairly well. But each time I went to get a 90 day supply it kept going up and up! It was some where near $39.00 when I first started taking it. The last two times I got a 90 day supply it was $40.00. ~Then 3 months passed and it was( $47.00 ) for a.3 month supply) It is now time to have it refilled. The Dr. had it changed to Verapamil 120mg (regular Not ER, or slow released) twice a day because of cost being so high!! However I cannot take it. It makes me so dizzy and nauseated !! I called the drug store to see if I still had refills on the verapamil ER. She said they do. But the cost for the verapamil 240 EX had went up substantially. She said it was made by TABZENITH??? And the price now for a 90 day supply would be $167.00!!! ( From $47.00) That is just plain crazy!! First of all I do not see a Tabzenith anywhere. My husband looked at the old bottle. He said it was made by Watson?? I do not know what to do? Because I cannot pay $167.00 for this medication. and I was not talking to a pharmacist. It was just one of the helpers. I have no insurance for medicine. The Dr is always so busy that if I call them , sometimes they NEVER call me back. Does anyone know anything about this verapamil 240 ER pills? The cost for a 1 a day 90 day supply? Of 240 ER pills?

I can't really tell you anything regarding the price, because that is going to vary, from area to area and from pharmacy to pharmacy. Although, the general price listed, since this is a generic ranges from $20 to $28 for 30 tablets, so a 90 day supply would be $60 to $84.

As to the symptoms you are having, they might be caused from some withdrawal and/or rebound effects, from switching the dosage and formulation. This is completely normal and they can last several weeks, while your body makes the adjustment from taking the 240mg time released, to the 120mg regular release.

As what the pharmacy assistant said, she actually read it wrong, what she was reading was Tab Zeinith, which means it's a tablet made by Zenith Pharma.

You should try calling your doctor about the problem with the medication change, they should respond if you let them know that it's urgent.

I still don't know what the heck they were doing at Walmart! I was able to get a 90 day refill for verapamil 240mg ER TABS at USA DRUG STORE.for $37.99!! Perhaps Walmart was quoting me a price for the brand instead of the generic?? All I know is they lost a customer! I hope no one else gets treated like I did! Thank-You for your nice answer!! Sherry

If you have no insurance, I suggest you contact the manufacturing pharmaceutical company and see if they can assist you in obtaining your medication. Look online for Zenith Pharma and inquire if they have a patient assistance program. Often, pharmaceutical companies offer free or very low co-pay price for meds. You can also put "medication payment assistance" into search box and it should pull up at least one or more companies that help hook you up with the companies that help. Some are the manufacturers and some are advocacy groups. Best of luck in getting your medication!

I called up USA drug store because I still had 3 refills of the verapimil ER 240 mg tabs left at Walmart. They looked it up and told me to have the prescription transferred from walmart to them. The price for a 90 day prescription of verapamil ER 90 day supply was $37.00.He said perhaps Walmart was quoting me the brand was the only reason he could say it might be that high! I called back the pharmacist at walmart and her reply was "Do what ever suits your self!! I want to Thank each and every one of you that have taken the time to help me with this problem! And I would suggest any other people who are older, or have a disability watch out for this problem. God Bless all of you! Sherry

You are so welcome if my reply helped. I do seriously suggest you contact the drug manufacturers of any meds you take and find out if you can get a break through one of their programs. NeedyMeds is one and is online... you have to show proof of income, etc., but well worth it if you need help. Always go to the manufacturer and ask! They want customers even if they carry the cost as it brings others to buy their drugs. ;) Hugs, Patricia
