Trying To Figure Out How To Know The Rules Of The Forum

Updated

I would like some feedback on some meds I get from my psychiatrist and to hear from other people about how they have reacted to them. For example, I was given lamotrigine and told it was for my anxiety but I had another psychiatrist tell me this is a bipolar med? My first doctor didn't mention anything about possibly treating me for bipolar disorder. Has this happened to anyone else? I would also like to become a regular member and learn the rules; get past becoming a "newbie" so I can learn the rules and intricacies of what you all share here. ;)

Lamotrigine is an anticonvulsant that can also work as a mood stabilizer, so it doesn't necessarily have to be prescribed just for bipolar disorder, it can be used to treat many mental health conditions. It is approved to treat bipolar type 1, but doctors are allowed to prescribe according their experience and what may help any given condition that is being treated.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and weight gain.

Can anyone else that's been on it chime in?

What other medications have been prescribed for you?
