Tecta Side Effects

I've been taking Tecta for more than one year, have been experiencing weight gain, bloating, sugar cravings, and having hip pain. Also, my overactive bladder seems to have worsened. I didn't have any problems when taking Zantac, but was switched by my doctor to Tecta. Can this medication be stopped abruptly, or will I need to taper off it?

Always taper off ... I know someone who was told by his family doc to cut his pills in half for a week and take half the dose before stopping completely.

Joyce, Tecta contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole, it is a proton pump inhibitor that helps reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to treat conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers, and gastritis.

Usually, there is no need to taper, but when you stop you may experience rebound symptoms, which could include heartburn, nausea, and GERD.

The FDA does list pain, muscle cramping, appetite changes, anemia, and blurred vision as being among the possible side effects of Pantoprazole.
