I stopped taking the medication but the side effects are still with me, at this time I don't have insurance and can't afford to get help. Only recently I noticed that the prescription was expired along time ago, until I startex having problems I had no idea what was going on with all the cases by other people for the same problems I'm having now I see that they have settled with every one does that mean I can't make them resposible for my medical bills that are going to come from trying to repair the damage their pills have caused me? I had a prescription for Chantix in August unfortunately I couldn't fill it the cost was $175 for a month supply. ouch. Yes I know I spend that in cigarettes a month but unlike the medicine I can spread it out over a month seems cheaper right. Well after dismissing quitting because of cost of Chantix I started to think about it again in November, there has to be some way to get the meds cheaper, I did some research and if you go on the Chantix website it has an area where you can apply for assistance thru Pfizer to have them supply it based on income. If approved they send the meds a 3 month supply to your doctors office where you will pick it up. It requires completion of paperwork from you and your doctor but well worth it process takes about 3 weeks. I am on day 9 of it and have ...

I began taking Chantix in May of 2011, and quit smoking in June. My brother started saying that I was acting strange. I did not believe him at first, and even felt he was trying to put me down...I remember that.... But I finally did notice that I was not sleeping, and getting really wound up! I started forgetting things, and even forgot to eat, and take medicine. I quit taking the Chantix, and do not smoke, But I lost Two months of memory, and still have some time gaps, at night, to this day. I was removed from the County Fair in September, but have no idea why, and little memory of that evening, and became more isolated and depressed, to the point where I could not think clearly, and. ....well it was a nightmare. I am Now, in the middle of January beginning to retain more evening memor...

After taking Chantix only three days, I began developing numbness in my calf and foot and achiness in my hip. I immediately stopped taking Chantix, but eight months later, the pain is just starting to subside and the numbness is lessening, but still in my toes. If this is what happens after only three days of Chantix, I feel horrible for the people who took it for a longer period of time and are still in agony. I still smoke, but will try other cessation methods before ever using Chantix again. It is not worth the risk. ## Saw your post and I have PAD. That is a disease that affects you in your legs especially because you are a smoker. The symptoms are numbness, hip pain, trouble walking long distances without a rest, tingling, etc. Just check it out with your doctor. And finally about ...

How long does chantix stay in your system? Could it still be affecting me after 9 months? ## No! There are no medications that stay in your system for that long. The only way you would still be feeling effects was if it had caused some type of permanent body/organ damage, which I am sure would have been detected long ago. Chantix contains the active ingredient Varenicline,it is a stop smoking aid. Common side effects during use can include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and abnormal dreams. Did you have any other questions? ## You say that no medication can stay in your system that long. Hmmn, interesting concept. So no medicine/drug can stay in your system that long. So people who took a medicine/drug that affected their brain lets say back in the 60's or even possibly now of any sa...

I'm finally over the smoking cigarettes I hope LOL. I used the smoking aid, nicotine transdermal system 14mg, then the 7mg and nicotine lozenges 2mg for the cravings. I was surprised that it wasn't hard as I thought it would be. It's been two months smoke-free and counting. Just wanted to share my story with someone who might be thinking about quitting too. I'm feeling so much better breathing and food taste better also. I must admit I'm gaining a few pounds LOL but I'm working out more now as well to offset the increase of my appetite. ## Congratulations on being smoke free! :-) I've used the patch in the past and found it easy, but I also kept busy and walked a lot which really helped me while using the patch. I quit for a few years, but dummy me I started ...

I talked to my doctor about wanting to quit smoking and he prescribed Chantix, I will start in about 3 days. Can someone please be honest and tell me what I am about to start going through? I am a stay at home mom of a 3 year old, my husband is only home 1-2 days a week and I have heard this will be a mistake for me to take and that I will have horrible dreams, suicidal thoughts, ad much worst. Can someone tell me if me taking Chantix is a bad idea? I have not heard of many people who have not had bad results and hope this will have different answers. Thank you! ## I have been on chantix for a coupl of months now. I have been a smoker for twenty plus yrs. I had a few weird dreams. No nightmares. I think everyone is different. Starting my third week tomorrow on Chantix and having the same problem I had with it a couple of years ago. About 3-4 weeks in, I start developing sores in my mouth. Mostly tip of the tongue, inside the bottom lip. Called my Dr. last time and he told me to quit taking the Chantix. I was smoking again within days. I am doing so well on this that I hate to quit taking it, but really can't stand the pain from the sores. Any thoughts? Thanks ## You should really contact your doctor, because the sores may be the sign of a possible serious and dangerous reaction to the medication. If it isn't dangerous, they may be able to advise you of some way to treat them, or minimize the pain. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Its always funny when people complain that the drug is causing a sy...

I am on my third day of chantix. I am still smoking, my quit day is 4 days away. but I must say I am amazed so far. Yesterday cigarettes started tasting very dry and nasty, and I don't think about smoking as much as I used to. I drive for a living so I will sit in my truck and smoke like two packs a day easily. I have asthma and when I smoke I have to take at least to breathing treatments per day. I am excited and looking forward to a morning when I don't have to get up early for work so that I can take my treatment. so far my side effects are minor. A little headache and nausea for about and hour or two after taking the pill, and tingling numbness in my left arm when I wake up; but its totally worth it if there's a chance I will quit smoking next week. Good luck to everyone...

I have been a smoker for 54 years and have tried everything over the counter to stop smoking including acupuncture. Nothing worked for me. I realize you have to be committed to quit and I really was this time. My last cigarette was May 17th with Chantix. There have been no ill effects so far and I don't expect any. At times I still have cravings but I keep telling myself "you've come this far, don't go back now." I will be 72 next month and the best gift I can give myself as well as my family is to never smoke again!! ## Congratulations, Gram! That is so awesome!!! Seniors can be more sensitive to the side effects of medications and may experience them more intensely, as reported by the FDA, so if you do start to experience any adverse effects, including depression o...

Hello, I started chantix 16 days ago. im 30 and ive been a pretty heavy smoker for quite a few years. ive only decreased my smoking very little and im getting worried cause I honestly have all intentions on quitting. the only side effects I have are weird dreams, fatigue usually 15-20 mins after I take the med, it usually gives me a warm rush followed by the sleepyness and I get shakey and quite anxious. is there anyone who can reassure me to hang in there? lol I have 3 kids and they need me, especially smoke free. ## Are you also trying to stop smoking? The medication isn't going to do it all. Whatever your intentions are, it also requires real effort on your part. Have you talked to your doctor about it? ## Dont give up. I went way past my quit date. So what?!!! Each of us is diff...

Has anybody used Cytisine to give up smoking, is it an anti depressent, doesn't sound as 'natural' as it was made out to be. Side effects? ## Cytisine, also known as baptitoxine and sophorine, is a toxic alkaloid that occurs naturally in several plant genera, such as Laburnum and Cytisus. It is said to have a mechanism of action similar to the effect of nicotine, but with rather low toxicity. It can substitute nicotine substance. I actually came across a pretty informative article on Cytisine, explaining where it comes from, what side effects to expect and so forth. I'm almost finished with my 3rd week of pills and still need a couple of cigs a day. They do not smell or taste bad to me at all. I've read where many people are totally free in just days....am I just a slow learner!! ## I am using Chantix to stop using smokeless tobacco (snuff). I just started week 4 and still dip the same. My cravings are the same. The first three weeks on Chantix I would take one pill when I woke up and one later in the evening. Because I work 3pm to 3am, the times would always vary. So now I decided to take one at noon, and one at midnight. I don't know if this will make a difference or not. I hope so. Anyone else have a severly delayed reaction to Chantix, or has anyone used it for snuff? ## On day 7 (my quit day) and I am still smoking. I am experienci...

I have COPD and Emphysema I would like to quit smoking this time so I ordered TBX-FREE but the box says not to use if you have depression or asthma. When I asked my Pulmonologist, he wouldn't even look at the box. Just asked if it was prescribed by a Doctor. I have taken Chantix twice both time quitting within 2 wks, first time for 1 year and the next time for a few short months, with no ill effects. I have used wellbutrin and nicotine patch that didn't help at all. ## I tried chantix twice, the first time had bad headaches and stomach aches so I stopped and got a refund. Where can I buy Cytisine strips over the counter in Nampa, Idaho? I want to stop smoking (actually I need to stop smoking). I have a surgery that needs to be done on my back and they want no nicotine in my body whatsoever. So please send me some information on this. I basically want to know if it is a nicotine free alternative to smoking because I cannot use Nicorette or the patches since they contain nicotine. I will be blood tested to make sure there is no nicotine in my body before my procedure. ## Look on eBay / Amazon or search online. It is easy to locate over the counter, but you will not find it sold in a local store. TBX-Free is one common brand but there are others. {amazon affiliate link added}
