I have been on Sprintec for about a year now, and I always renew my prescription on time. However this time I did not. I just got off of the white pills yesterday, and I have no blue pills for today. Will I continue to bleed or will I stop? ## Hello, Nya! How are you? It should still stop, but you will no longer be protected from pregnancy, until you have taken a full week of the active pills. Restarting may also cause some spotting, according to the FDA. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, cramps, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have never taken birth control before and my doctor told me to take sprintec after my period started.I needed it sooner so I took it a week before my period started. Is this okay or will I stop the process from working right? ## Hello, Meagan! How are you? According to NIH instructions, if you start them, when you are not on the first or second day of your period, it will take 7 days for them to become effective at preventing pregnancy, so a backup method of contraception should be used, until the 8th day. If you start them the first or second day of your period, they are immediately effective at prevent pregnancy. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, spotting, and PMS-like symptoms. Thus, if you had intercourse, befor...

I have been taking antibiotics without realizing they can affect the effectiveness of my sprintec birth control. I haven't taken an active pill in 4 days and I have no signs of my period as of yet. Is there a possibility of pregnancy? ## Hello, Holly! How are you? What antibiotic were you taking? According to the NIH, not all of them reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives. As to being late, the FDA does warn that most antibiotics can lengthen your menstrual cycle, so you may start later than normal. I've learned to just expect it any time I have to take one. However, if you are concerned about pregnancy, there is no harm in checking to be sure.

I forgot to take Thursday thru Saturday of week 2 trisprintec pills. I went ahead and took the three that I missed and now I'm cramping. Should I continue my pack since I have one week left or just start a new pack after my period? ## Hello, Chloe! How are you? At the point where you miss that many, the FDA instructions usually tell you to start a new pack. However, unless your doctor says otherwise, you can start your new pack the first day of your period. That will ensure that you're immediately protected from pregnancy. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've been on Sprintec 28 for...

While in the hospital they gave me some estrogen in my iv and my menstrual has lighten up a bit My doctor said that I'm bleeding so much because i have fibroids. I'm also 47 yeasrs old and had a tubal ligation many years ago . My doctor has put me on tri sprintec to help with the bleeding and today i picked up the prescription. I'm still bleeding and have no idea whan to start taking the pills. PLEASE HELP!!!! ## You can start them at any time, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise. Just don't rely on them to protect against pregnancy, until after taking them for a full 7 days. The FDA lists the typ...

I started Sprintec a week and a half ago, first time ever on birth control, on the Sunday of my period, for the purpose of skipping my period two cycles from now. I noticed nausea almost immediately and pretty much everyday. I'm okay with that because I've been eating less. I started spotting three days ago, very light, but still need to wear a panty liner. I know it says that spotting is normal, but I just don't want it to last for weeks, all to skip my period for 5 days in two months. Could this be my period? Or how long does this last? Also, I was taking vitamins, which I will now stop taking, as I read that increases side effects. I just want to see if this will be worth skipping a period in two months, and it will actually skip. Thank you! ## Hello, Rita! How are you? A...

Hi, I am concerned. I had a baby 2. & 1/2 months ago and was cleared by my OBGYN to begin birth control. I asked to be placed on Ortho Lo but apparently Sprintec is the new generic available. Anyways, I've been on it 3weeks now and began my period last week (2weeks early) the bleeding on this pill is excessive. On top of that I have been having huge clots (last night 5 and 1 this morning). I am concerned. Is this normal?? Regardless, I didn't take my pill last night. I am planning on stopping these pills because the bloating and stomach cramps are too much for me. I am very concerned about the bleeding though..is this normal or should I be getting ready to go to the ER? ## That can occur, when you're new to taking an oral contraceptive, as reported by the FDA. You may al...

My doctor started me on the generic brand of sprintec about a month ago after being on the name brand for about 6 months. It caused me to have very bad diahhrea and messed with my stomach altogether but I dealt with it. It also caused my left breast to be extremely tender and painful to touch. My doctors didn't send my refills over for my birth control so I couldn't refill it when I ran out, so I had to double up the day after on the pills. A few days after that I was intimate with my boyfriend. However, we always use a condom and check it after for holes. I was supposed to start my period yesterday but it hasn't come. I took a pregnancy test but they were both negative. I'm still freaking out because my period almost always comes on time and this is just not normal for ...

I took a full month and after my last pill of the month I missed 3 days because the pharmacy was out of pills.. Then I started my New pack took a pill the first day and second day after taking the pill the second day they night I had intercourse could I be pregnant?? ## Yes, there could be a chance that you are pregnant, not a very high one, but the possibility is definitely there, so you may want to check. In the future, it would be best to pick up a new supply a few days, before you'd run out and, if your pharmacy doesn't have it in stock, then you should try a different pharmacy. Transferring a prescription is a simple matter. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting and PMS-like symptoms. I have been on tori sprintec since 2012. At the end of June I decided to skip my period. Well it worked for the week and then on my second week of my new pack I started bleeding, so needless to say I had two periods. I already knew this would happen. Now my main concern is I am already on a new pack and next week I will have a period but I am already bleeding...? I guess this is where my body is getting use to the change I made. I'm just a little confused. ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? Yes, that can happen, when you skip like that. When I was younger and on an oral contraceptive, I found that things usually corrected themselves after my next normal cycle. If they don't settle by then, you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly includ...

I have been on Sprintec 28 for 3 years now. I tried to skip my period by going straight into a new pack but my period started anyway and now I'm going into day 16 of my period. How can I get it to stop? ## I experienced that, as well, when I was younger and taking an oral contraceptive, unfortunately, it's just going to take time. Generally, I found that I would bleed or spot, until after my next period week, then usually things would finally settle down and return to normal. If it doesn't stop by then, you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. I was supposed to start my new pack on Sunday around 8:30 pm. I forgot and took that pill around 7am on Monday. Then took Monday, Tuesday's, and Wednesday's all around 8:30 pm (each night not all at the same time). We had unprotected sex on Wednesday night around 11 pm. I have been on sprintec for about a year. I also took a plan b on Saturday morning. My youngest child is a year old and I don't think we could handle another. Is there anyway I could be pregnant?

Hello, I stopped taking my sprintec pregnancy pill on Sat. morning and start my sugar pill on Sunday, but i skipped it so I should still have my period, but I was intimate with my husband 11/10 and I haven't had my period yet. Do you think I can get pregnant? Please help because im suppose to start a new pack of sprintec on Sunday Nov. 15th, 2015 and if I am pregnant I dont want to hurt my baby :( ## Hello, Abby! How are you? No, the placebo pills have no bearing on the efficacy of oral contraceptives, they are only there to allow you to have a period and to keep women in the habit of taking their pills, so they don't forget. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, weight changes and breakthrough bleeding. Some women...

I just started sprintec this week, I had an IUD fall out in January and was put on quartette but bled everyday a good amount, needing several liners to several super tampons. So I called my OB because I couldn't take the daily bleeding after seven months. OB put me on Sprintec and I have completed one week of pills any advice on when I can expect the bleeding to stop???? ## Hello, Danni! How are you? Irregular bleeding can occur for the first 3 months, or so, while your body gets used to a new oral contraceptive, but if it goes beyond a couple months, you should inform your doctor as you may need to switch, again. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. When I was younger and taking them, I found that the blee...

I started my cycle when I only had 2 pills left.. I been on sprintec for a full year and this is the first time this has happened.. I just started my first white pill and I usually start my cycle on my 3rd white pill .. do I need to start a new pack? or just keep taking them ## You should just continue taking them as normal, unless your doctor has directed otherwise. Irregular bleeding can happen, occasionally, when taking oral contraceptives. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability, as reported by the FDA. Hello, I've been taking the ortho pill for a good 6 months and I've recently been switched to the sprintec pill. I had my period on the 8th of June. It is now the 23rd. I started taking sprintec last sunday. It was fine the first week of the white pills but I missed two yesterday and the day before because of work... and today I was intimate with my boyfriend but he didn't climax inside of me... We took an hour nap and when I woke up I was bleeding. Is this a period, my body adjusting, or do u think something was hit wrong? I have no symptoms of sickness whatsoever and nothing hurts. Please help!? ## When you experience a period, while taking oral contraceptives, it is actually called a withdrawal bleed, it is due to not taking in any hormones that week, those pills for your...

What's the difference in the powder blue pill on week 2 vs. The blue pill on week 3 ## Hello, Shon! How are you? If you are referring to Tri-Sprintec, or it's generic equivalents, the doses of the hormones vary each week, then the last week is hormone free to induce a period. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started Sprintec about a week and a half ago. I take the pill at 10 p.m., on a full stomach, and two hours before bed (so I sleep through it). I've taken Sprintec once before, many months ago, and taking it during the day was terrible for me. Anyone know about how long the nausea takes to pass? Thank you! ## Nausea can be normal, when you're experiencing hormonal fluctuations, many women experience it if they suffer from PMS, PCOD, perimenopause or menopause. It shouldn't take long to clear up, perhaps a couple of weeks, it should ease up once your body gets used to the medication. Learn more Sprintec details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I read somewhere that nausea means your liver isn't digesting the hormones effectively. Is this true? It's da...

I have never used birth control and weeks ago I went to the gyno and she prescribed me sprintec. I have been waiting to get my period to start taking it but my period is very late. My period is usually regular and sometimes it gets delayed for a few days but never this much. It's been 40 days since my last period. I've been stressing about it which I know that is no good and can delay it even more. I'm planning to have sex for the first time in two weeks so I really want to start using the pill to prevent an unwanted pregnancy but I don't know if I should start taking it now. Can I take it now before my period? Should I be safe in two weeks if I do?
