Prednisolone To Cure Asthma, But Getting Severe Anxiety

Hi, the last four weeks for me have been terrifying.

Approx. 1 week ago (last Tuesday), I was prescribed with 40 prednisolone tablets, and was instructed to take 8 a day for 5 days straight.

Ever since i've come off them last Saturday, things have spiralled out of control. My focus at work is low, and i've had a series of panic attacks and sometimes asthma attacks are then brought on from the panicking. Last week I had a panic/asthma attack at home when no-one was around, and couldn't find a phone to contact anyone. Luckily my dad managed to get me and we managed to control the asthma/anxiety. Since then, and since i've been off the tablets my anxiety symptoms have gone off the scale like never before, i've had several more attacks, sometimes while i'm at work (an hour away from home or A&E), because the shortness of breath gets too much and I get an extreme fear come over me that I may die. My sleep and concentration has been really affected.

During these phases I often feel like my breathing is spiralling out of control, and feel like I have to hold my head in my hands and try to take deep breaths, I try everything to stay at work but eels like my body was screaming get yourself home now, (I don’t literally hear voices) but it feels like a voice is screaming for me to get home now, I haven't felt fit to work for two/three weeks, I keep feeling like I need to be permanently next to a member of friends or family incase something worse happens.

Similarly i’ve been with my inhaler absolutely everywhere, I'll always take my medication at the right times but I felt like my body started to panic and I felt so breathless to the point that i’ve driven myself home in the fear that much worse will happen, had the window open full blast because it felt like I was moments away from hyperventilating, I don’t feel safe on the roads from the dizziness i’m feeling and confusion, I feel like my body and my head is so different from 3 weeks ago, I can’t sleep at night because my brain thinks I’m going to die in my sleep, it’s making me feel really down,i've been getting chest pains in both sides including the left side, and I feel like it’s like it’s all I can focus on at work, it's affected me so much that i’ve written notes for family and friends can reach incase I die (I don't have suicidal thoughts but that's a close second?), I did have an anxiety attack last Friday, I already have an appointment booked with my doctor that I booked this morning but these anxiety attacks are starting to happen more frequently. I’ve tried waiting since I went off Prednisolone completely to see if the effects will wear off but they haven't yet, it's been 5 days since then.

It feels like there's no easy answer for what to do, sometimes it's making me feel crazy!

My doctor has signed me off work for a week but in that time, I know i'll have moments when i'm ok and then moments when i'm really not. I didn't want to take the route of being off work but it's become inevitable :(

Any further advice on what I can do, medication I can take, breathing exercises or anything to get me through this nightmare of a time would be so appreciated. I don't want to get depressed from this, but it's been a month and still haven't seen any light at the end of the tunnel.
