I have Phenazopyridine for UTI. It's late and I'm feeling the urge of pain this is the only medication I can find in my counter but it has a fill date of 12/9/11. Is it safe to take? ## Hi Jessyca, How are you? From what I could gather, most medications (aside from certain antibiotics) rarely become "unsafe" to take after the expiration. The only real concern I see from something that old, is that it may not be quite as potent as it once was, potentially making it more difficult to determine what an appropriate dosage might be. However, on the contrary, the following article by Harvard explains how many medications can actually retain their potency for up to 15 years beyond the listed expiration date: health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update1103a.shtml So on that note I thi...

does medication for kidney infection interferre with a drug test? the medication turns the color of ur urine orange or red ect... just curious cause ive heard this alot and i have a drug test friday. can't afford to show a false possittive or from what i been told i might would have to take it at a later date. appreciate ne imput on this matter. thx ## Just about every medication can cause a false positive reading, so I don't think you need to worry about Phenazopyridine, especially if you have a prescription for it; in which case, all you would need to do is show the lab your prescription prior to the test so it won't be counted against you. Furthermore, if for some odd reason you do get a false positive and this is not your prescription, then I would suggest having an addi...

I'm trying to figure out what this pill is I found in my little sisters bag; it's a light brown oblong pill with specks of darker brown on it. It has a cursive W or M on one side and a line on the other. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ## Hi AJ, Based on the description provided, the closest match I could find is an oval-shaped brown pill marked with "WX" on one side. Unfortunately I can't locate a photo of the tablet for further investigating, but the tablet itself is said to be identified as Phenazopyridine HCL (97.5 mg). This particular medication is used to treat urinary pain that may be associated with interstitial cystitis. Does this sound like it could be a possible match? If not, please post back if you happen to have any other clues or hunches as to w...

If phenazopyridine isnt relieving the pain, can I add any other pain reliever and if so, what? ## If you are pregnant, then it's really only safe for you to get such information from your doctor. The answer can vary depending on your overall health, the stability of your pregnancy, other medications you are on and etc. It is very unsafe for anyone other than your doctor to suggest you use anything else. The wrong suggestion could place both you and your baby at risk. Have you told your doctor that it isn't working to get their advice?

My Dr prescribed Phenazopyridine for what we thought was a UTI. I took 1 pill and about 1-2 hrs later I got the most horrible chills where my whole body was shaking very strongly, my teeth were chattering and I was freezing. I got sever lower back pain as well as a throbbing headache. I'm in Phx where it was over 100 degree. I had this reaction once before to an OTC called Uristadt. I have not read anywhere that this medicine causes all the side effects like I have described, especially the chills where my body shook uncontrollably. Can you help identify if these effects are possible, but more rare with this medicine? Oh, and it turned out I did not have a UTI...but I had all of the symptoms that my Dr. said could have been caused by passing a kidney stone. ## No, I am not find thos...
