I have been taking the this drug from the past 16 years. I started with Carbamazepine. When the drug Oxcarbamazepine was introduced, I was asked to replace Carbamazepine with Oxcarbamazepine. The dose has been increasing since then. When I started taking this dose, I took 200 mg per day. My medical condition remained stable for 25-30 days with the frequency of epileptic attack of 1 attack per month. After this duration, the frequency of attacks increased. When consulted the doctor, he increased the dose. This cycle kept on repeating itself till the dose increased to 1200 mg per day which is the maximum dose an average adult can take per day. After the dosage reached the maximum level, I opted for homeopathy. Before I suffer from epileptic attack, I get a strong feeling which I am not ab...

I need to test clean in a week from oxcarbazepine and would like to know how long it takes to get out of your system? Also how does the drug work and what should I expect when taking it? ## This is an anticonvulsant that is most commonly used to treat epilepsy and some mood disorders. Why are you being tested for it? The only time such tests are usually done is to make sure someone's dosage amount is correct. My husband takes this twice a day, every day, and that is the only reason a test is ever done, to make sure he isn't building up too much of it in his body. The FDA does not list this as any type of controlled substance that is usually included on drug tests.

My wife has been taking Oxcarbazepine 150mg twice a day for a couple weeks now. Didn't notice at first but now she's super tired esp mid afternoon into the evening and sometimes spacey. Forgetful, a def "slow motion" kind of demeanor etc. I am just hoping this subsides over time because it's starting to affect her quality of life. Going to bed at 6pm cause she can barely keep your eyes open. ## Hello, Boris! How is your wife doing? Recently it was fiagnosed that I have partial complex seizures hence the neurologist prescribed Oxetol (to be gradually increased from 150 mg twice a day to 450 mg twice a day). I was NOT TOLD ABOUT ANY CONTRAINDICATED medicines by the Doctor. A week later, I had fever and another GP (who I had told that I am on Oxetol), gave me the anitibiotic Oflox. Only when I suffered excruciating headaches and could not lift my head for an entire day, did I find out through our family physician that Oxcarbazepine and Fluoroqinalones are contraindicated. Then, by the time I was settling into the 300mg dosage (at least four weeks after having started the medication) I had the most terrible itchy and angry rash all over my body which refuses to go. Again, my neurologist had NOT warned me about this. I...
