Omeprazole Depression
UpdatedMy mother has been taking Omeprazole for GERD for about a year, and she has been dealing with depression lately. She has always been a very upbeat person, so I do not think that any life events or other factors could be contributing to her mental health. This evening I read startling information that depression may actually be a serious side effect of Omeprazole and that she should report that to her doctor. At this point she does want to let her doctor know so that she can get off this med, but is also concerned that her pains from GERD will return.
Can anyone recommend an alternative medication / supplement / or NATURAL treatment to keep the GERD under control (natural would be ideal)??
I really want her to be in a happier state as well as feeling good in her stomach. Any suggestions would be great!
