Nitrofurmacr

My doctor found blood in my urine 3 weeks ago. She gave me antibotics and they did not work, so I then got a new perscription of antibotics and they did not work. She did a culture and found it was a bacterial infection. Last week I took my next antibodics and they did not work. Now I am on med # 4, Nitrofu-Macr... I took only 1 so far and I feel like heck!! Is this normal? My drugest did not say anything special about it, only it is an antibotic. What else can I feel with this?

At this point, it is difficult to say if your symptoms are due to the medication, the infection, or possibly both.

Its normal side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and fever.

Two years ago my wife was given Cipro for a UTI, 500mg twice a day for 7days. After THREE pills, she developed a G.I. bleed and spent a week in the hospital.
In May, a stomach ache with no other symptoms she was aware of, was diagnosed as a bladder infection, and she was given Levaquin 500mg once a day for 7 days. After 3 days her joints began to ache, but she completed the prescription. Within a couple of days she was barely able to walk. Her shoulders, ankles, and especially knees hurt, with her knees swelling badly.

She has improved slightly , but has been diagnosed as having a tear in the miniscus of her right knee; the left one has not had an MRI. The only admonition for either drug was a note on the Levaquin to drink plenty of water. We were not given a patient information sheet or warnings from the doctors.

Because her general health was perfect with no trace of joint trouble and the timing of the onset of symptoms, we have no doubt the cause was Levaquin. Is there anything that will help her at this point? Thank you.
