Need Dr To Prescribe

I have been on methadone for over 15 years. I go to a clinic in Georgia but live in Tennessee . The clinic nearest where I live is not a good place to go. This is why I have travelled all these years. However I'm tired of doing this every 2 weeks and tired of it totally running my life. It's had to plan a lot. Always having to make sure it won't interfere with my clinic date
I have been clean for these years so I have a good record.
I would like to find a Dr in the Knoxville Tennessee area who will prescribe methadone. I want to live as normal a life as possible and be able to travel just like other people with regular monthly prescriptions. Not have to worry about getting to the clinic or explaining why I have all these numerous bottles with 1 days medicine in each.
Isn't the goal to live a life as normal possible?

Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you but I do think that people like you and I should be as vocal as possible to inform any and all who will listen. After years of strict compliance our lives should not be miserable. I can't even imagine how much state and federal government could save by relaxing the rules/regulations on long term compliant MMT patients. Ideal coverage would be through personal insurance. I recommend changes such as pharmacy tablet dispensing/ VOLUNTARY counseling sessions/ random urinalysis...but again it would only work for long term patients with a proven track record.

Unfortunately, most states don't allow private doctors to prescribe it in such manners for addiction treatment.

Some doctors have done so, but if the prescriptions were noticed by the government, serious ramifications ensued.

I do understand how much of a pain it is, but unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about it, other than voice your opinions and hope the government changes something.
