Lorazepam With Same Fillers As Mylan
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I am very sensitive to fillers and have just learned that "MYLAN" has discontinued it's Lorazepam. I cannot find a brand using the same inactive ingredients as MYLAN, which I tolerate well. Can you tell me who makes Lorazepam as MYLAN did, with Lactose Monohydrate, Microcrystalline Cellulos, Polacrilin Potassium and Sodium Stearyl Fumarate? (PLZ include all that you find as our area has very few pharmacies.) THANK YOU.

Re: Britton (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Check your local pharmacies to see if they stock ATIVAN made by RPK Pharmaceuticals, Inc. That one does NOT contain Magnesium Stearate.

Re: Kevin (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

CVS carries mylan (not discontinued). It doesn't work at all. My former mom and pop store sold the business, transferring my prescriptions to CSV. They are not accommodating and mess up the orders by fax. My doctor drove to his office on his day off to straighten out the mess. Disgusting.

Magnesium stearate is cheap. Sodium stearyl fumarate is superior to magnesium stearate but it is more expensive.Plus who knows where inactive or even active ingridients coming from. China and India have bad reputation. There is lot's of profit in Big Pharma. People don't count. They do anything for money!

Why it is so difficult to find lotazepam with sodium steraryl fumarate ( Mylan formulation) There is no mage sum stearate in it. And it worked great. Sodium stearyl fumarate is superior to magnesium stearate. DOES make medication work better! Why only magnesium stearate.

Re: Jan (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

This is crazy! Went back to check binders in mylan and Watson.....guess got different site as it says mylan has lactose monohydrate
Microcrystalline cellulose
Polacrilin potassium
Sodium steady fumarate.

Watson
Magnesium stearate
lactose
Microcrystalline cellulose
Polacrilin potassium

So they have one different binder in them.......whatever! Shame on the drug companies for not helping people with the differences and why keep changing.....I called mylan and asked them which other lorazepam would be close to their and they would not say....said to ask your dr. Lots of luck to everyone....iam praying that God will show me the right one to take for my system. Take care......if you check on websites be careful as when looked up first time didn’t come up with these answers. Done looking just going to take Watson and see what happens.

I too am having problems switching. I was put on leading brand and had awful headaches and couldn’t sleep. Today I start Watson 1mg and will see how it does. I just read the binders in both brands and they are identical. Hope this helps.

Re: HomeTown Mom (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

Did the Leading Pharm lorazepam work for you except for the headache? Have you tried any of the manufacturers that Kevin listed? Thank you.

Re: Sweetpea (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

I'm slightly confused by your question. The name of the generic is the manufacturers name. Even the examples you gave me are manufacturing names, Watson, Accord, Sandoz, Actavis etc. those are all just names of more commonly known manufacturing companies.

So if you were to ask your doctor for these brands you would ask for Aphena, RPK or Proficient generic pills. I will openly admit that I have not heard of these generic names before but the original request was to find which brands had exact matches to the Mylan brand and those are the ones I found.

Cheers.

Re: Britton (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Yes. I listed them in the first post of the discussion. The following brands have identical inactive ingredients as Mylan according to the NIH.

Aphena
Proficient Rx LP
RPK Pharmaceuticals, Inc

Re: Kevin (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Were you able to find a lorazepam with the same ingredient profile as Mylan brand? I’m in the same boat. I had to buy Leading Pharma and am not doing well with it.

Re: Kevin (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Mylan is gone. CVS offers only "Leading Pharma" which has 2 different inactive ingredients as Mylan. Had no choice but to try it. The first thing I noticed waking up this morning was a headache that I never had with the MYLAN brand. Out of luck...Guess it's just one of those things.....

Re: HomeTown Mom (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

You're right! Sorry about that I had actually written a sentence previous to completing the list and then I edited it because it didn't sound right and I completely forgot to take out the Mylan in the list. Thanks for catching that redundancy.

Let me know how things work out for you with the other brands.

Re: Kevin (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

The first name you listed, "MYLAN", is the brand that has been discontinued. I appreciate your response and will try to find one of the other 3 you listed at a local pharmacy. Thank you!
