Hi after suffering yet again with severe sciatica from an l4-l5 bulging disc and the cocodamol and diclofenac not wiorking even at the max prescribed doseage and a fortune spent at chiropractor, my doctor prescribed gabapentin. I'm on my 3 rd night of just 300mg and apart from continuing the diclofenac and a much lower doseof cocodamol 1-2 times per day I can actually walk again and am no longer permanently hunched over. My question is that the doctor said to increase these over several days to 3 per day but surely if I feel fine ion this dose I shouldn't need to. I have finally been able to do some small physio exercises which I hope will help more so that I can come off everything all together and after reading lots about this drug I'm averse to staying on it for too long ...

taking amox tr K for cold symptoms - Also taking Gabapentin and Hyrocodone for back and inner leg pain - is there any interactions between these medications I should be concerned with. ## The antibiotic will not treat the Cold or the symptoms it causes. A cold is caused by a viral infection and an antibiotic, such as the Amoxicillin, is only effective against bacterial infections. Learn more Amoxicillin details here. And as to the interactions, it isn't the antibiotic that would cause a problem, but there are issues associated with taking the Gabapentin with the Hydrocodone, because it can increase the efficacy of the Hydrocodone. has inflammation of the facial trigeminal nerve. is there medicine for this ## Hi clif, To my knowledge there are medications for nerve pain. However, I'm not sure whether or not they are specifically geared towards this particular facial condition. From what I've seen, Gabapentin or Lyrica are usually the general medications recommended by doctors for these types of conditions. Some people also suggest supplementing with a Vitamin B -Complex, as well as Turmeric, and Omega 3 fatty acids (DHA) for increased efficacy. You can learn more about each drug on the page for Gabapentin Details and Lyrica Details I hope this helps! ## my doctot put me on gapatin 800 mg 5mg of valium and tomapax it helps so much

I want to know the combined therapeutic advantages of taking gabapentin with methylcobalamin (i.e., synergistic effects and also whether there's any drug to drug interaction between these two substances)? ## Hello, Nagarjuna! How are you? Methylcobalamin is actually not a drug. It is just a form of vitamin B12 often used in these combination medications, because it is believed to support nerve health. However, since it is just a nutritional supplement, there are no synergistic effects and no known interactions. The only actual drug involved here is the Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant that's been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes.

Prescribed as a added medication for anxiety/depression. If I feel it's giving me side effects would it be suggested to taper off 100mg per a nightly dose of 1000mg? Been taking this for 5 years. ## That's actually a very high dose and you've been taking it for a very long time, thus a 100mg reduction might be too much. Learn more Gabapentin details here. What types of side effects is it causing? It would be odd to experience them after such a long period of time. Have you consulted your doctor? They'd be best able to guide you on a safe tapering schedule. Since this is an anticonvulsant, tapering down too fast could put you at risk of seizures, so it's not safe to try to play with it on your own.

What are the medications used for trigeminal neuralgia? which is the most effective? which is the safest? which is the most dangerous? What are the maximum dosages? ## The anti-seizure drugs gabapentin and carbamazepine are most commonly prescribed. They can be effective, but they also have a sedating, dulling effect, and less commonly more serious side effects. Some people have found topical ketamine to be effective; in low, topical doses it is probably fairly safe, but topical ketamine has not been in clinical trials. There are some anecdotal reports of the skin product Gallixa being highly effective with no side effects. ## Safety and efficacy are actually purely relative, since not every medication affects every person that takes it in the same way. What works for one person may not...

Is this medication ever administered in intravenous dosage forms? ## From what I've read, Gabapentin appears to be available in the following dosage forms: a capsule, a tablet, an extended-release (long-acting) tablet, and an oral solution (liquid) to take by mouth. IV methods are usually pertaining to those who recreationally abuse the medication. So I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing anything other than what your doctor or health-care provider suggests, in that regard. The dosing instructions also state that you should swallow the extended-release tablets whole; and not cut, chew, or crush them.
