Erectile dysfunction is not listed as a side effect but has anyone noted an effect in this area? ## Yes I have, I take Viagra when we get at it now. I take 2700 mg of Gabapentin a day for Multiple Sclerosis. It might also be caused by the MS alone. I find Viagra to be hard on the system not just the sausage. ## Actually the FDA does list impotence as being a possible side effect of Gabapentin, along with nausea, mood changes, weight changes, anemia, and back pain. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? If this is a severe problem for you, you might need to speak to your doctor to discuss trying a different medication, as this might not be the right one for you to take.

My father who is 79 was started on 300 mg of gabapentin, three times a day. After the 4th dose, he was having hallucinations, tremors, and became tachycardic and arrhythmic. Although the MD prescribing would not say stop the medication, his cardiologist advised immediately stopping. He continues to be lethargic, confused and although better, still has some tremors about 36 hours after taking his last dose. His heart rate is down to around 84 now. How much longer until these side effects resolve? ## Hi Snigs, I'm very sorry to hear about your father's situation. Based on your description, it sounds to me like his cardiologist may know best. A lot of these side effects can be serious/life threatening and may require immediate medical attention if they persist. For the doctor to di...

I'm on 3000 mg a day and have been for 6 months for back pain. It affects me in various ways...forgetfulness, agitated but it helps with pain, is anyone else on this dose? ## That's the highest dose I've ever seen. I'm on 1200 mg and have a lot of forgetfulness that it worries me. I'm also very " whatever " about things. Don't care to workout. Just sad. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? Yes, doses this high are not commonly used, anymore… though they were back when this medication was new to the market and the reason the higher ones aren't used much anymore is due to the issues you and Heather have stated. There is also a risk of your experiencing a seizure, if you miss a dose or stop it suddenly. Other typical side effects, as listed by the FDA may ...

I am taking also metformin for diabetes type 2. Gabapentin for the pain under my feet's and fiorecet for migraines. What's going to happen to my drug test and what my future employer will think. I have bipolar. I've been taking gabapentin for 2 years now. I just changed pharmacys & getting a different manufacture of the gabapentin. I have been crying about an hour after I take it & get nausous. I have never had this problem before. Do u think it could be the way its manufactured? ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? There can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to the next, or when going from the name brand to a generic, so that might be what's causing your problems. It sounds like the new ones might be a little stronger than the one you were taking, before. Both the nausea and the mood swings can be normal side effects of this medication and would be expected with a dosage adjustment. You may also experience dry mouth, dizzin...

The bottom of both of my feet have a burning sensation especially when I go to bed and I can't sleep. My pain dr. prescribed Gabapentin 300mg (1 before going to bed for a week and then 2 thereafter). I've just started taking it last night and I couldn't get to sleep, tossing off and on all night. My primary dr. prescribed Zolpidem for sleeping which makes me sleep and I don't feel the burning sensation. My question is, can I take both meds before bedtime? ## Continue zolpiden no need to take gabapentin. I think Feeling burning sensation on your foot because of sleeplessness. So continue zolpiden ## Added info.: Dr. that prescribed Gabapentin stated my burning foot sensation is Restless Leg Syndrome. Do you still recommend taking Zolipen rather than Gabapentin? ## Hi Jim,...

I've been taking gabapentin nt151's and they work well. Then they switched it to d25's and they suck bad! Now they mixed them and I know I'm not crazy because I took the d25's first and felt nothing, then I took the nt151's and they worked like they were supposed to. How do I just get the nt151's? The pharmacy says there's no difference, just different makers. They almost think I'm making it up, but why make something up like that? I need to know what to do? Please help if you can. ## What do you feel, when you take them, or what are you expecting to feel? This is an anticonvulsant that also helps with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Thus, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in the body, and you shouldn...

What Happens If I Take 200 Mg Of Gabapentin i need to know i already took it before i knew what milligrams it was i am worried what will happen what mental effects will it have on me???? ## Hi Alicia, Were you prescribed this medication or was it someone else's? I personally don't think you should have anything to worry about as far as side effects go if you only took this one dose. Gabapentin has a half life of 5 to 7 hours. So, for example, if you took 200 mg of gabapentin Monday at 4 PM, 100 mg would still be in your system at approx. 9 to 11 PM. Generally, it can take anywhere from 5-7 half-lifes before the drug is completely out of your system (but you should stop feeling its effects before then). Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and is cur...

I have started taking gabapentin 100mg twice a day. When is the best time to take it. Do the side effects go away or do you just have to put up with them? ## Hi sarah, Dosing schedules for Gabapentin are largely dependent upon your reasons for taking it. (i.e. - the usual adult dose for Epilepsy is as follows): Initial dose: 300 mg orally on day one, 300 mg orally twice a day on day two, then 300 mg orally 3 times a day on day three. Maintenance dose: 900 to 1800 mg orally in 3 divided doses. If necessary, the dose may be increased using 300 mg or 400 mg capsules three times a day up to 1800 mg/day. Dosages up to 2400 mg/day have been well tolerated in long-term clinical studies. Doses of 3600 mg/day have also been administered to a small number of patients for a relatively short durati...

I am extremely underweight and skinny. I am a female aged 25 years and weigh 45kg. Pls help. I need a drug/medicine I can use to add weight fast as I am so sick of hearing that I am too thin. ## Gabapentin!!! It is an anticonvulsant. Ask your doctor and google it. People always gain weight when they take it. ## An anticonvulsant medication like Gabapentin should probably not be used for it's potential weight gaining purposes only, just because others have said that they gained some weight while taking it. For all we know, they could've also changed their diet and/or lifestyle while they were taking that medication; leading up to an extra few pounds. I'm not saying that it wont help you gain any weight, but the bottom line is, if you want more control over your weight (throug...

And is it safe to drive on it? I am very worried about taking this drug. ## Is Gabapentin addictable? Also, I cannot afford to gain any weight. Am on a lot of meds already. ## i want to know if gabapentin can be given for bipolar disorder also I have anxiety and ocd just it says that it can be given for mania and anxiety and depression which are the symptoms of bipolar. I also have a personality disorder. ## Yes, gabapentin can be addictive physically when taken regularly for a period of time depending on the person. Some people may have symptoms and others little or no symptoms when discontinued. I am on 600mg 3*daily and if I miss a dose I feel it. My body will remind me within a few hours of missing a dose. I have been on gabapentin for about a year and a half. Good luck, and driving...

It has "s" then like a split line, so "s l g". The l is the line in between and the other side has "1 l 77". Again l is referring to the split line. It's a white oblong pill and I was told they're gabapentin but have never seen them look like this. ## Hi Mimi, Just to confirm, a white oblong pill with "S | G" on one side and "1 | 77" on the other, is reportedly identified as Gabapentin (600 mg); a medication most commonly used for treating neuropathic pain. For verification, the manufacturer is listed as ScieGen Pharmaceuticals and the pill itself carries a National Drug Code of 50228-0177. I hope this helps!

How often do I give gabapentin to my dog? She is 35 pounds. Do I give it to her every 8 hours? ## Please please please have your vet prescribe your dogs dosage and don't try to go it on your own! Human gabapentin has xylitol in it and is TOXIC to dogs!!!!!! ## Ps normal dosage is 1.4 mg for every pound your dog weighs once per day- again NOT human gabapentin. ## My dog is very stiff in the morning and has a hard time moving for 2hrs. My dog is also on four meds for heart disease. I'm afraid gabapentin might do more harm than good. My dog is 13 pounds, age 12-14 not sure. What do you think I should do?Thanks.
