I got all of the side effects and more. Bad ringing of the ears, depression, palpations, chest pains, couldn't sleep, nervous. I felt like I was getting a nervous breakdown.

Hey there. I know exactly what you mean! I've been on it for about six months now and at first, I forgot names, I'd stumble for words, I'd put two words together accidentally, my speech was slurred or impaired and felt like I was getting brain damage! I took 900 mg a day total and it appears what I was experiencing was hypersensitive side effects. I had my neck fused 2 wkd ago and I quit cold turkey. Stupid surgeon told me to . 3 days later, I was experiencing a major headache. My good doc put me on a lesser dose a day and said I need to taper over 2 months. NOW, since I have started the lower dose, I get ringing in my ears- mostly my left. It hits about a half hour after I take the pills, and lasts for....gee, actually I dunno. Long time though GI. I hope it all stops when I stop the Gabipentin. It is the only pill I take now, after finding out I was hypersensitive to hydros, the
Uncle relaxers and a sleeping pill- as all had opiates. (they caused me apnea, but to the point that I was unable to sleep because I'd stop breathing BEFOREi actually fell asleep! It took me a week to figure out it was the drugs! So, yes, Gabipentin made me feel like I had dementia too. Still does, but not as bad with this lower dose. Semper Fi and when in doubt, don't ski it! Those side effects sound pretty serious! I just came across an extensive list of possible side effects associated with Gabapentin (which you can view in the link below) and it looks like it can actually get worse than what you experienced. Hopefully you don't have to continue taking it:
