Don't Give Up On Chantix
UpdatedI am 58 years old and have been a smoker for 36 years. I had given up on the idea of quitting and knew smoking was going to kill me. I recently had a bad case of bronchitis. I had started Chantix about 5 days before I got sick. After a week on Chantix, I din't feel my desire to smoke had been diminished. I continued taking Chantix for a total of 13 days before I felt the reduction in my disire to smoke. This is my 6th days not smoking and I must say there is a noticable reduction in my urge to smoke. Even one day without smoking gave me the couage and willpower to continue. So, if you don't feel you are ready to stop on day 7 as suggested, don't give up - continue to take Chantix until you have that ah-hah moment. It will come and it is unmistakable. Thank you Pfizer!!

aaahhh....thank you! ive been searching for a comment like yours! i am on day 9 and still smoking...(about half of what i was). i needed to hear that there is still hope for it to fully work! I have been a pack or more a day smoker for 20 years.
Hi Guys - don't worry about that. I took it for 16 days before I gave up smoking.
I am now on the 2nd month of Chantix and the first week or so I had only smoked a pack of cigarettes even though I was a pack a day smoker! I am also a 40 year smoker on top of that. I actually ran out of the medication, and forgot to take one pill from the beginning so I only had ONE pill to take today.. I have the 2nd month of them now and just took it . I am hoping that I can take just one pill a day instead of the 2 since it makes me tired.. that is the only complaint I have had. I have wild dreams anyway. I am not depressed but about at week 3 I felt as if I had lost my best friend or something.. I had that sort of feeling. I too for the first couple weeks had a terrible taste in my mouth, like pepper and that has gone away but for the ones new to taking this make sure you drink a LOT of water it actually helps out...
I smoked for 40 years... I am on the 2nd month of the pills and have been totally smoke free for over 2 weeks.. this is MONUMENTAL for me, the longest I ever quit was 3 days.. The chantix has been great for me I am wondering how it will be when I stop taking the pills.. Anyone know?
