Diovan And Triamterene/hctz
2 Replies RSS
Is it safe to take Diovan and Triamterene/hctz together? I just failed a flight physical partly because the ME said these two drugs shouldn't be taken together!! I've been taking them together for about two years as prescribed by my PCP. Really want to get completely off meds but presume I'll need to go slowly. Any advise? Thanks ## It isn't that they shouldn't be taken together, but they can cause some problems, so your doctor must carefully consider the dosage and should be monitoring you regularly. Now, this information is only relevant to the medicine in general. When it comes to specific criteria, such as that related to a flight physical, it may be a prohibited combination, due to the problems that can be caused by using them together. The first is due the risk...

Diovan 160 Mg Vs Losartan 100 25
14 Replies RSS
Are the ingredients in Diovan 160 mg and Losartan 100-25 mg comparable if I run out of one can I switch to other? ## Hi Elaine, As far as comparing these drugs, I think it's not wise to assume that they have similar properties, since everyone can react differently to one or the other, despite having an equivalent dosage. If you're used to taking one or the other and have your doctors permission, I'd say it's fine to switch off between the two. However, at the same time I wouldn't necessarily anticipate having the same relief or results from two entirely different medications. On a side note: Eating whole foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium are solid dietary options for lowering blood pressure. These foods primarily includ...

does diovan 400 mg help reduce microalbumin?
1 Reply RSS
Hi. I am a 55 year old white male who has high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and a high level of microalbumin. My physician has advised me to take diovan 400 to treat the microalbumin case. I need to know your opinion please, many thanks. ## Hello, Assad! How are you? Yes, as reported by the NIH, it has been shown to help lower it in those who suffer from type 2 diabetes. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

Im on co-diovan 160 and bilocor 5mg twice a day + trepelene 25mg. My docter prescribed demetrin 10mg twice a day. I want to know if it is safe to use all these medications together. ## I haven't found any interaction information on Demetrin (Prazepam), but as far as the others go, there are potentially unsafe interactions found between all of your medications. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: The following applies to: Trepiline (amitriptyline) and Co-diovan (valsartan + hydrochlorothiazide)… "Hydrochlorothiazide and amitriptyline may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen ...

Inconsistent High Blood Pressure Medication
Post a Reply
I used to have medical aid and was prescribed Co-Diovan 80 plus Twynsta 40mg. But then I got retrenched and had to receive other medication since the State does not keep these kind of medication. The State gives medication free of charge. I was prescribed a list of medication back since none were effective - my BP remained high. Most recently I got Atenolol 50mg plus Perindopril 4 plus Adco-Retic 2.5mg for water retention. My blood pressure remained non-consistent so I decided to rather go back to the Co-Diovan/Twynsta combination again. I must say that these medications are really expensive but since it is my health, I purchased them out of my own pocket. I have been using the Co-Diovan combination for the past 3 days but have noticed that my blood pressure ranges between 167/93 to 149...

prescribed in the philippines ## This is a form of a blood pressure medication made in the US called Diovan. It is used to lower high blood pressure. Side effects include dizziness, lightheadness, headache, among others. ## Actually, the name brand in the U.S. for Losartan is Cozaar. Learn more Cozaar details here. It's an ARB that's used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It and Diovan are in the same drug class, but Diovan actually contains the active ingredient Valsartan. Learn more Diovan details here. As to the Calvit, that's a supplement that contains Calcium Carbonate and Cholecalciferol and the Sangobion is a multivitamin nutritional supplement. Is there anything I can help with? Are there any comments or questions? ## Hi, Im 6 mos preg...

Valsrat prescription

Dear reader, My cardiologist gave me Diovan 60. That has been around now for some time. These pills are packaged in 14 pills per strip. Now this pill changed to Valstartan/Hydrochlorothiazide 125/75 mg, and these pills are packaged in strips of 10 pills. Do you know where I can still get these 14 day strips? I have a prescription from my cardiologist available. Thanks for your reply. Henno R., Netherlands {edited for privacy}

how long is the medication good after date of expiration
1 Reply RSS
Diovan only 2 months after expiration date. Is it safe to take? Next appointment with doctor is for next month. Please let me know, I will appreciate it. ## Hello, Gloria! How are you? This medication doesn't get dangerous, once it's expired, but it does start to lose effectiveness and may not work as well as it did, when it was new. It would be best to just obtain a new supply, unless your doctor okays you taking the expired one. However, this isn't a medication that requires a doctor's appointment, so if you call, they should be able to phone or fax a prescription for you to your pharmacy to get you through, until your appointment. The FDA classifies this medication as being an ARB that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. ...

Diovan and Benicar
2 Replies RSS
I have been taking Benicar 20mg for high blood pressure and it was working in combination with two other meds. My drug plan had my doctor change it to Diovan 160mg. Does the Diovan need to be such a large dose compared to the Benicar? Both are angiotensin II receptor meds so do they work the same way? ## Hi Forrest, Even though both of these medications are angiotensin II receptor antagonists and both work by blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, they still have completely different chemical structures by which the drugs themselves are synthetically constructed. It's really just this factor along with any other inactive ingredients (binders and fillers) that are put in each tablet, which can determine how each drug is metabolized by your body. I...

How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is listed by the FDA as most commonly being used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Yes, there is a risk of that, but not a very high one. If your heart is working to hard, you should take this, as prescribed by the doctor, because letting th...

valsart hctz availability

I took Diovan brand 320-12.5mg for a very long time. The generic became available. I have a history of reacting to drugs and wanted to stay with the Sandoz which I've been told is a generic to Diovan and Sandoz company is the generic company of Novartis who originally made Diovan brand. By hopping from one drug store to another I found Valsartan Hydrochlorathiazide tablets 320-12.5 mg marked identical to the brand drug with the HIL and NVR on the pink oval pill. I paid generic price. Soon pharmacy ran out and told me they would not be getting anymore Sandoz Valsartan HCTZ 320-12.5mg. I was told to go to other pharmacies and maybe they would have some on their shelf. I did, I even went out of state and was able to buy 90 days but was told that's it, no more will be available. Co-diovan side effect?
1 Reply RSS
I've been taking 80mg/12.5 for some months now; bp when measured with two different monitors (upper arm and wrist) has averaged 106-110/61-63, with diastolic figures at times lower than 60, heart rate 55-70. Readings are elevated at the doctors clinic ~ 130-140/75-80. Main problem is regular tension like headache, with similar burning sensation feeling occasionally behind the ears / neck region. CT scan results okay. Electrolytes figures, kidney & liver function tests, and sugar level tests results also okay. I'm strongly convinced that the co-diovan medication is responsible for the headaches / burning sensation feeling described early. My doctors are still observing and this has affected quality of life for me. Is anyone with a similar experience and how can this be addres...

can you take Esculturex with Diovan

can you take Esculturex with Diovan 160/25 mg ## Esculturex is listed as containing Sibutramine, a drug that was used to aid in weight loss, until it was banned from the market in 2010, due to the increased risk it caused of adverse cardiovascular events. Learn more Sibutramine details here. That said, it you are taking the Diovan HCT for high blood pressure or a cardiac condition, then no, it isn't safe to take the Esculturex, or any other stimulant type of weight/appetite control drug. diovan hct expired 2007 I ran out of prescription and until I replenish can I take this pill which was a sample from doctor ## No, that is way to old for it to have any efficacy left. Even in the original factory sealed container, they are only good for about 3 to 4 years from the date of production, after that they start to lose efficacy. the best thing to do would be to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription. Learn more Diovan details here. Learn more HCT details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have sample Diovan 160mg from Doctor I just found, sealed from 2009. Diovan expired 5 months ago

I found an unopened bottle of Diovan (90 tabs) in my medicine cabinet. It got pushed back by my more current orders. It expired 5 months ago; are they still good? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? They don't get dangerous once past the expiration, but they do begin to lose effectiveness. Are they in a factory sealed bottle or one from your pharmacy? The factory sealed ones usually have a longer expiration date. ## Thank you Verwon. I was told it is still good until the end of the year so I started taking it right away. At least my 3-month supply won't be wasted.

i am allergic to sulfa drugs can I take hydrochlorothiazide

The doctor wants to change me to Diovan and Hydrochlorothiazide. I am currently on Lisinopril 40mg. I am afraid to change. I am allergic to sulfa drugs. I have had a cold/flu for about 2 months and he thinks Lisinopril may be causing the cough. (this is a new doctor to me). I have been on Lisinopril for 10 years and have had no problems. Not sure what to do. Also Diovan is a tier 4 drug. Lisinopril is a tier 1. ## Hydrochlorothiazide is a sulfonamide, but they don't always cause problems in people with sulfa allergies. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. I've taken it without a problem, but had a very bad allergic reaction to the antibiotic Bactrim and am listed as being sulfa allergic. However, it is best to proceed with caution. Have you discussed the issue with your ...
