certain test strips were giveing off incorrect results ## I assume you are referring to Diabetes test strips to check blood sugar levels? The most recent that I can find listed on the FDA recalls page were ones made by Abbott Diabetes care and included the following brands: Precision Xtra®, Precision Xceed Pro®, MediSense® Optium™, Optium™, OptiumEZ and ReliOn® Ultima Blood Glucose Test Strips. They were used in the following devices: Precision Xtra, Precision Xceed Pro,ReliOn Ultima, MediSense Optium, Optium and OptiumEZ. The testing machines are not being recalled, just the strips. Was this the information you were looking for, or was it a different brand?

Free over the counter drugs for the treatment of Diabetic retinopathy ## Well, first, these are not drugs, they are supplements, which means they are claimed, but not proven to actually help with anything. As to the Nepretin, other than to say it is all natural, the company doesn't even list what's in it. The information available on their site just says antioxidants. Blueberry Extract tablets would fall under the same category, they have antioxidant properties. If you are diabetic and taking prescription medications, then it is very important that you check with your doctor, before taking any of these. Are there any comments or questions?

Can you tell me what this pill is for? ## The pill in description is Glipizide ER (10 mg); which is an oral medium-to-long acting anti-diabetic drug from the sulfonylurea class. I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes since the past month and a half. I am hypothyroid as well since 1994. I had managed to keep my weight under control but I have gained 6 kilos of weight. I was wondering what this weight gain is due to.I am very worried about this Please advise ## Either of these conditions can cause some weight gain, as well as the medications for Thyroid problems. Since I don't know the specifics of what medications you are taking and your medical history, these are only guesses, but they may explain it. It is also normal to gain weight, sometimes, as we age. Have you tried asking your doctor?

My food lover husband met High blood sugar just 1 month back. What diet should I give to him ? ## do you mean he is diabetic or has just had one episode of high blood sugar? What has his doctor advised? Have they put him on any medications? With high blood sugar, it is very important to eat a healthy, low-fat diet, without a ton of sweets. The main issue, however, is that all food is converted into sugars in the body for fuel, so too much of anything can raise the blood sugar, even if it is healthy. That is why medication is necessary and healthy foods. Fruit has a lot of natural sugars in it, so it is the best choice when he wants something sweet, but he still has to limit how much of it he eats. Fats coat the cells in the body, preventing proper absorption of the sugars, which keepsth...

This isn't my first bad experience with a drug manufactured by Teva. Not only is my Teva Metformin ineffective, but I had the same identical problem with Teva's generic for Protonix (it was like taking a placebo and I located many similar complaints in an online forum). My doctor finally prescribed a name-brand and my symptoms disappeared and my sugar levels are near normal once again. I always ask before picking up new prescriptions now; I will NOT accept any pills by Teva Pharmaceuticals of Israel -- I think they should be investigated and the pills tested by the FDA. ## teva metformin and metformin ER do not work right. Ineffective. Other standard metformin always turns off crct2 switch in liver making good numbers. ( 500mg) an dblocks liver leaking glucose. 500mg Teva and ER...

My husband tool actos and has bladder cancer. The FDA is investigatng the link. He now has a new medicine. Is anyone else involved in this mess? ## There is some preliminary evidence reported as linking this medication to bladder cancer, though more confirmation is needed to prove it, which is why the FDA is investigating. How long was your husband on it? ## He was on it for four years before he developed bladder cancer. I know there is no validation yet, but it is an interesting concept. Avandia is another drug in the same family. We may never know if the drug caused the bladder cancer. He insisted that his doctor take him off the drug, and he is on metformin.
