Day 2
UpdatedHey guys, day two into cymbalta 30g for depression. When I yawn my eyes force shut and I get a tightness around my chest and shoulders. I have a pain in the tummy. And I feel like I'm twitching my hands and chest but when I look I'm not.
Is it normal?

Please be careful on this medication. It takes away all anxiety and inhibitions. It can make you do and say things you wouldn't ordinarily. It also makes you crave alcohol, and can intensify alcohol affect tremendously. I was on 60 mg for 9 months. I kept telling my doc I didn't feel like myself. He insisted I stay on it. My personality completely changed, my relationship with my husband and daughters suffered and I didn't care. If my daughter was out late....I didn't worry. I stopped worrying about consequences. I told my husband I wanted a divorce...I wasn't depressed. I actually didn't feel anything. It was a horrible existence.
I finally switched doctors and am now on 20mg fluoxetine. I'm myself again. With the love and support of my husband I have repaired the relationships I damaged.
I have read many instances of the same behavior on cymbalta. If you find yourself drinking more, or treating people differently. Even feeling differently towards loved ones .......be aware....you may want to try something else. Good luck to you. Cymbalta almost ruined my life.
Kay, I am very sorry about what you've been through, that's awful. It's great that you finally have it straightened out and are doing better. Saving your marriage and family life had to be really tough.
For future reference, everyone needs to know that your doctor can't actually insist that you stay on any medication. They can tell you what they think is best, but there is no way possible for them to make you take anything, short of their having a court order that's holding you under their care in an institution.
Thus, you should never be afraid to say that something isn't right and you aren't going to continue to put up with it. Just like they aren't obligated to treat you, you aren't obligated to accept their care and there are plenty of other doctors out there that will gladly help you.
And Brydie, no those aren't typical responses and you should talk to your doctor to see if it is from the medication, because if so, then this may not be the right one for you to take.
