Yes, that should be fine, unless you have some type of vaginal infection and should abstain. If you are on oral contraceptives, it may also lower their efficacy, so you should use a backup method, while being treated with it.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.
