Croscarmellose Sodium
UpdatedWhat is croscarmellose sodium made from? Could it be made from corn?

Hi Bee,
According to an article on wikipedia, Croscarmellose is reportedly made by a process of mixing crude cellulose in with sodium hydroxide and then taking the cellulose and reacting it with sodium monochloroacetate to form sodium carboxymethylcellulose (which is the chemical name for it). Most reports I found suggest that the cellulose being used is made from corn. However you might still want to contact the manufacturer of whatever pill you're taking just to be on the safe side if it's an ingredient you need to watch out for.
I hope this helps!
