Cigarette Free For A Week!

Updated

I am on my 12th week of Chantix and have been cig free for one week. When should I stop taking the Chantix. I am a little afraid if I stop taking the medication, I will want to start smoking again.

Hello, Christine! How are you? Congrats on quitting, that's very tough to do!

I'd suggest checking with your doctor to see what they recommend. Some people do need to take it for a longer period of time and it can be taken for another 12 weeks to help you remain smoke free.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, mood swings, dry mouth and headache.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Congrats! Besides the typical side effects mentioned in the previous post listen to the hundreds of serious warnings they gloss over in the commercial and take heed. My husband quit without problems ( he is diagnosed bipolar so who knows) me, I'm still suffering and still smoking two years later. I had a convulsion in my 3rd week and they took me off Chantix. Since then I've had severe memory loss, episodes of sleepwalking states that they call altered mental status, no dreams that I can remember and all sorts of strange things with no medical findings. I am not the same person anymore. Chantix changes your brain; Chantix kills. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Willpower is the only way to quit smoking
