UpdatedI am on my 12th week of Chantix and have been cig free for one week. When should I stop taking the Chantix. I am a little afraid if I stop taking the medication, I will want to start smoking again.

Hi Christine,
Congrats on making it to the 12th week! I'm sure it wasn't easy by any means. Just wanted to comment on "when to stop taking chantix"... And I think due to the possibility of withdrawal symptoms, it would probably be best to discuss tapering options with your doctor in order to help minimize any risk factors. A lot of feedback I've seen in other threads talk about depression or irritability being an issue upon quitting, but I think anything mental can be overcome if you surround yourself with positive thoughts and positive people during this sensitive period of time. The most important thing in my opinion is not go for another cigarette or you'll be back at square one. Making the decision to quit for the betterment of your own health or loved ones is a great way to hold yourself accountable.
Hope this helps! Does anyone else have some suggestions?
