4 Teeth Pulled

I had 4 teeth pulled out and had no infection...my gum is swollen and I'm on amoxicillin as well as tylenol #3 and chlorhexidine rinse. Everything was going good until I started the rinse yesterday. I know it's only been 2 days and some bruising is normal but my gum is swollen and hurts so bad. Should I keep using the rinse? Will it help heal my gum faster?

Hello, Stephanie! How are you doing? Has there been any change?

Yes, you should continue using it, as instructed. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including terrible taste, nausea and oral irritation.

I know it is annoying, I had to use it for awhile, after I had all of my remaining teeth removed to get dentures, I didn't like it, either.

As to the pain and swelling, that is normal, however, if it worsens or continues past a week, or so, you should consult your dentist.

Ty so much for your reply. I have improved a little but I think in one of the sockets I have what they call "dry socket" and that's why it hurts so much. I myself am in the process of having all teeth pulled. All my tops are gone...yay good riddens to them cuz they don't hurt me no more! I have 7 on bottom left to go...can't wait to have a beautiful new smile! Bad teeth run in my family...Yea the rinse does suck but hey it helps! Thanks again!
