Will Morphine Help Oxycodone Withdrawal

I have been in pain management for years, lost my doctor along with other patients, and primary won't fill or says she can't and messes up my progress to get in new pain management in time. Now I'm losing Soma, was 3 times a day, now I have 7 tabs left. Was on 45 mg of morphine 3 times, oxycodone 15s and xanax 5 mg 3 times a day. Which she said she can not write for. Why, if she knew or thought this pain clinic was prescribing more than standard, did she never say a word until i had to go to her in desperation for this? Your primary that has to refer you and get info to get into a new pain clinic, I have very serious health issues no one is dealing with, I feel alone and suicidal. I even told my doctor and the old pain clinic staff that left, and not a bit of help, yet they ...

I take up to 3, 30 mg a day of oxycodone. I'm trying to stop but don't want to get sick. To start off, if I take 30 mg of morphine will I withdrawal? I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone but I really want to stop, so if there are any ideas on how to stop the withdrawals or tame it I'm up for all suggestions. ## Oxycodone is 1 and a half times stronger than Morphine, so yes, you may still experience withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound pain, and diarrhea. A slow taper is usually the best method to stop taking it. Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted your prescriber for assistance? ## No, I have not consulted a doctor, I'm trying to do it myself. I'm trying to taper down righ...

Seven years ago I was put on morphine 100mg twice a day and oxycodone 10-325 for breakthrough pain (up to 2 pills a day). Once I was put on that dosage, I felt normal, not ruled by pain like I had been for the past 7 years where I tried anything I could to just get the pain to a manageable level. I felt like I got my life back. My doctor suddenly retired and his practice was merged into a community health center. His pain patients were told they could stay on the pain medicine and they would be refereed to a pain specialist or they could try to wean off of it. I decided to see if I could reduce my dosage--mainly because it's hard finding a doctor who is willing to treat chronic pain. This doctor was running late (over an hour) so he was in a hurry to get through the appointment--the...

A few months ago my doctor put me on Morphine Sullfate ER 30 mg 2X a day. I had been using oxycodone at night to sleep and as needed during the day. I am not finding the morphine to be effective, and I want to stop using it. I still have some oxycodone 5 mg tablets. Is there a way I can wean myself off the morphine--and eventually the oxy--using the 5mg oxy tablets? At this point, I'd rather live with the pain than being shackled to the drugs. ## You can try, but will likely still experience some withdrawal effects. However, they will probably not be too severe if you have only been taking it for a few months. The most severe problem is usually the rebound pain, which can e worse than the pain you started taking the medication to treat. Have you consulted with your doctor? ## The do...

Hello, I need some help as I just started pain management. I was taking 20mg oxycodone ir 3x a day and it wasn't working. My new Dr just put me on 2x a day morphine sulfate er. Is that stronger because I'm reading oxycodone is 1.5x stronger? I don't wanna be in withdrawal and have worse pain. ## What dosage of Morphine did your doctor prescribe? That is the relevant information needed in order to answer you question. Can you please post back with this information? Thank you! The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Don't do the morphine it about run me crazy does not help pain ## Been there done that don't ta...

My pain specialist had me on 40 mg Opana ER and 15 mg Morphine Sulfate IR for 8 years. I had to find another doctor and starting next week I will be taking 30 mg Oxymorphone ER every 12 hours and 10 mg Oxycodone IR up to 3 per day. I have been out of my break thru pain med for 2 days now and my pain level averages 9 to 10 every day so I have taken 5 mg valium, Tylenol #3 with codine and a baclofen to stop me from going into withdrawal. What else can I do until my insurance co. gives their OK, ## Re: "Is morphine stronger than oxycodone" - I feel that answers to this question may be highly opinionated according to each individual as well as several underlying factors, including but not limited to: the binders/fillers in each respective tablet that may affect bioavailability; gene...

I was on liquid Methadone for chronic pain for years and while on waiting list to switch to a new Pain center, I was weaning off methadone rapidly at 2mgs a day from 120 to 38mg. I was also on 20 to 40 mgs a day oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Now, last month, my new doc put me on 25mcg/h patch. Yesterday, he informed me that I am now ONLY getting pain management from him (understandable) and cut me off and did not prescribe any more oxycodone and I was to stop at 38mgs methadone. Bottom line, will a 50mcg/h patch I started today be enough for my pain and withdrawals? I am scared. ## Did you discuss your concerns with him? The Fentanyl is a very strong narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine actually, but while it can handle pain very well, you may still experience some breakthr...

I have taken two 30 mgs of morphine twice a day and two 10 650 oxycodone every day for over two years. How hard will it be to stop these medications? ## My personal opinion is that because the difficulty of withdrawal is also dependent upon a combination of one's mental, emotional, spiritual and physical fortitude, comparing how bad someone else's unique situation was wont necessarily reflect how your experience will play out, for better or for worse. Just as an example, I know people who've been smoking for 15 years straight and undergo some serious withdrawals upon quitting. All the while, my father smoked for 40+ years and quit cold turkey with only a couple weeks of mild cold symptoms. I understand opiates are a different story, but I wanted to help put things into persp...

I stopped taking Kadian 40mg 19 days ago. I am still taking oxycodone 5mg. It has been a rough 19 days (physically). I still have GI symptoms and can barely eat. I thought the nausea and diarrhea would be subsiding by now. I'm taking the oxycodone every 3-4 hours (5mg) and thought since I was still on that it would help the w/d symptoms. My next doctor's appointment isn't for a month and I guess I'm hard headed and decided to try to do this my own way and see if I could get through it. Does anyone have any thoughts, advice on the GI upset, suggestions? I just thought I'd be past this. I wasn't on a crazy high dose of Kadian but I had been on it for 5 or 6 years. I also want to make sure this is still likely related to withdrawal. Thanks ## Yes, there is a good ch...

Which oxycodone is the strongest, that relieves the pain. I was just prescribed the U 17? ## I BEEN TAKING OXYCODONES 10/325 4 TIMES A DAY AND THERES TIMES I HAVE TO TAKE TWO. PLUS I TAKE 15 MGS MORPHINE ONE EVERY 6 HRS IT JUST DOES'NT WORK THAT WELL AFTER TAKING THEM FOR 2 YRS ## The U17 have been prescribed to me on and off for about a year. I've had a generic Percocet prescription for several years. The U17 seem to have no active ingredient in them. I go through withdrawal-like symptoms (chills, tiredness, nausea, vomiting) for about 3-5 days when this is all that my pharmacy has to give me. The difference between this pill and others is rather scary for patients that have valid reasons for the prescription. A sugar pill may be more effective. The FDA needs to look in to the ...

I take 9 oxycodone 10/325mg and morphine sulfate 60mg 2 times a day. My insurance changed and I was denied my prescription of oxycodone due to Doctors Authorization. Will I get withdral symptoms even though I am still taking the morphine sulfate? ## Hello, Mariposa! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. Yes, you may experience some withdrawal symptoms, because Oxycodone is actually stronger than Morphine, plus your body is used to having that additional level of narcotic. Have you contacted your doctor about correcting the issue? ## Yes I have contacted the doctors office, the office staff is rude and will not forward a message to the doctor. I made an appointment to speak with him on the 20th. I think I am going to try a different medication. ## IMHO...

I ran out of Percocet 8 days early. I know people make excuses as to why this happens, but I went to jiffy lube and forgot that my coin purse was on the seat. It had 15 pills in it! I put them in that coin purse, in case of an emergency. Luckily, I still have a few more. My dr. prescribed morphine sulfate 15 mg twice a day. I have not taken it yet. I have been on the Percocet for 3 weeks. Terrified of going through withdrawal. Do you think the Morphine will help eliminate withdrawal? I am also on Gabapentin. Please any response is appreciated. ## Please help.Very anxious and afraid of withdrawals ## Hello, Gabrielle! How are you? Since the maximum dose available of Oxycodone in Percocet is 10mgs and that is equivalent to 15mgs of Morphine, you should actually be fine. The FDA classifies...

I now take 60 mgs of morphine 4x a day and 15mgs oxycodone 4x a day. Would it be safe for me to stop the oxycodone since they are both the same? ## Hello, Angel! How are you? They aren't the same, but they are both related narcotics. However, you may experience some withdrawal symptoms, from stopping the Oxycodone. As listed by the FDA, they may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, diarrhea, fever and chills. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What's the best thing to take or do to help get off of oxycodone? And I don't need any sarcasm just helpful advice plz?

taking morphine 15 mg S A. Have been on hydrocodone 10/325APAP, and oxycodone 10/325APAP. Don't seem to be getting any relief from the morphine. Is this just a transitition, or could there be an issue here ? ## Have you consulted your doctor? It could really be either that the dose of the Morphine isn't high enough to handle your pain, or some withdrawal/rebound effects from switching medications and there is also a possibility that it's a combination of both. ## I feel that I am not getting the relief I used to get from my medication. For the past 5 years I have been taking 6 norcos 10/325 and beginning 2 years ago I began to take 2 Oycontin 40 mg per day. My doctor is very difficult to talk to about increasing my dosage. I have been on percocet for about six years, now they want to transicion me to morphine sulfate(ms contin) 30mg, so the pain management doctor wants me to tae both until they can remove me from percocet.... to be onest with you I am afraid, can anyone give me more info.....Thanks ## Transitioning from one narcotic medication to another is usually not a problem, as long as your are given an equivalent dosage of the new one. There usually isn't any need to keep taking both to ease the transition, since one can prevent withdrawals from another. The Morphine isn't as strong as the Oxycodone, to you will require a higher dosage, to equal what you were taking, but it is very effective for many people. It can cause the same side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry m...

I'm on Morphine sulf 60mg ER 1 table every 12 hours plus Fentora 400 MCG Buccal tablet 1 every 6 hours. I'm ran out of the Morphine Sulf and none of the farmacy have it on stock. Now I'm with a lot of pain, I think because I'm getting the morphine out of my system, but I do have at home Oxycodone 15 MG. Do you know if I can substitute the morphine for the Oxycodone safely until I get the Morphine back within 2 days. Also if I take the Oxycodone can I still take the Fentora safely. I will not take it together, but like I take Oxycodone now and within one hour it's the time for Fentora. ## Hi, Santa! Sorry about the problem that you're having finding your medication. I never had a problem going to any pharmacy and getting my prescription filled. Now CVS Drug chain states they can't fill it because "They are at their threshold"? What?? I was taking 4 80 mg oxys daily my doc put me on 2 100 mg teva morphines will it help the same and will i go through withdraw thank you ## The equivalent dose would actually be 120mgs of Morphine to equal each 80mg Oxycodone that you were taking, so you've actually been put on a lower dosage. Thus, it may not handle your pain as well as the Oxycodone did and yes, you may experience some withdrawal. Learn more Morphine details here. Have you started taking them yet? Are they helping any? ## Im taking 150mg of morphine sulfate Er cos i was taking 180 oxycodone. Will the morphine help me from withdrawals from the oxys?

I have chronic back and neck pain, I was on a high dose of Morphine for a long time and came off of it a year ago. The pain is so bad that I had to start taking Vicodin off and on and it helped but it made me sick to my stomach because of the Tylenol. I was on every nsaids made for many years due to failed back surgery etc. I have a nice doctor who seems very understanding about joint pain and will give me what ever necessary. I am taking Oxycodone 5 mg. because it has no Tylenol and it doesn't make me sick. I am afraid of my body getting used to the drug and having withdrawals when stopping. I may take it once or twice a week and then not for days. Is this safe or can I become dependent with out even knowing it. I figure if I let it get out of my system and only take it when it...

My husband was on suboxone 60 mg the for 3 years. Recently he stopped suboxone cause he is in pain with his hip and needs a replacement. I too am prescribed suboxone and have hip trouble.
