I have taken Novasc without significant side effects however amlodipine causes shortness of breath what is the difference ## Hello, Cherrylyn! How are you? It could be due to one of the inactive ingredients in the generic, they don't have to be the same as those used in the name brand. To avoid the problem, you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe it as brand medically necessary, so you no longer receive the generic fem your pharmacy. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No thank you, I've already done that.

Are Amlodipine Amlovasc the same as Amlodipine besylate? ## Yes, Amlovasc is just a brand name for Amlodipine, so Amlodipine is the generic and is usually cheaper to purchase. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I live in South Africa and do not know if this will be of any help. I use Amloc, 5mg. Amloc is amlodipine maleate, which does not cause any swelling. Previously I was on amlodipine besylate which caused me to swell up like I was trying to outdo an elephant. My neighbor experienced the same - besylate causes swelling, maleate does not. Both are amlodipine, only different components of it.

what pharmacy in kansas city missouri carries amlodipine besylate 10 mg color blue, round, side1 10,size 2 m. ## I am sorry, but there is no way to know, ahead of time, which pharmacy carries a medication from any given manufacturer. The only thing I can suggest is contacting the pharmacies in your area and asking them. If they don't carry the one manufactured by Mylan, they may be able to order it in for you. Do you have a problem with other manufacturers? ## My patient had an allergic reaction to the Amneal brand of amlodipine but not to the Mylan brand. What do you feel is the difference between the two products?

Are all Generic created equally. I was taking the generic Amlodipine Besylate that was Blue with A9 on front an M on back. Latest refill is a white pill with G58 on front an 5 on back. After 3 days it appears that it is not working as well os the other one dir. So again are all generics created equally. ## Unfortunately, no. US generic medications are allowed to differ from their name brand counterparts by as much as plus or minus 20% in the active ingredient. This means that while the one you were taking may have had the full amount, the new one might not. The FDA considers this a safe, therapeutic window of different. But, for some people, it does create problems. Your best bet is to consult with your doctor about it, they may be able to write you a prescription for brand medically ne...

I take Norvasc, Amlodipine is the generic. Generics do not always have anything but the main drug ingredient due to patents on the original drug? I have worked with my current Doctor to take it twice a day 12 hours apart. I always had a higher BP reading in AM so I take 5 mg twice a day and if it gets to high I take 7.59 mg and monitor closely. Its working. ## Sorry, I ment to say I take 7.50mgs at 5PM if it is running high. This helps AM high BP for me and then I take 5mgs in AM to get through the day. ## Generics still contain fillers, in most cases, along with the active ingredient, the patent on a name brand doesn't prevent them from using them. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Amlodipine as possibly including nausea, headache, dizziness, increased urination, and hypote...

Has anyone experienced migraine headaches while taking Amlodipine? ## No headaches but watched my blood pressure increase up to 200/95 immediately after it was swallowed. In the beginning it was okay but they changed manufacturers and who knows what inactive ingredients were added. Quit taking it and now only take Brand name Dyazide 37.5mg/25 mg capsule once a day in the morning same time every day. I even tried brand name NORVASC (amlodipine besylate) and that increased my blood pressure up to stroke levels. ## I have had no problem with Amlodipine. It has finally been the answer to my blood pressure problems. I was given 2.5 mg and it didn't help much but my doctor added another 2.5 mg at night and it's been wonderful. I've been taking the Reaptan brand of Perindopril/Amlodipine (5mg-5mg) & now I am experiencing side effects as such as dizziness, mild headache, stomach pain, hypotension and finger cramps. I fear it may cause more risks to my system. Should I stop taking this medication? ## How long have you been taking it? How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? If you have high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, it is far more risky for you to let such a condition remain uncontrolled, since they have the potential to be fatal. They could result in a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure. The issues you've reported are listed by the NIH as being normal side effects of this medication, you may also experience increased urination. Most side effects taper off, and ...

My husband takes the blue generic version of amlodipine/benazepril. When the pharmacy filled it again they shipped Dr. Reddy's brand of 5/20 amlodipine/benazepril and when he started it he had chest pains and anxiety. Could this be be due to the change to Dr Reddy's brand? ## Hello, Melody! How is he doing, now? Has there been any change? Yes, as permitted by the Hatch Waxman Act of 1984, there can be differences between generic medications. But what are the markings on the pills he's received? This information would help me look into more details on it for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

I've been taking amlodipine 10 mg for over 2 years with no real issues and was recently switched to a smaller white tablet made by Cipla and I've been experiencing side effects like headaches, frequent urination and ED. I never had these with the previous manufacturer. Is is possible that the formulation is different enough to cause these issues? At the ER for an unrelated injury last night they gave me a different brand because I was due and my BP was up and some of the effects went away, so it led to me think about this..... ## Hello, Mike! How are you? There can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to another and, since you've had the advent of new side effects, there's a chance that this new one actually has a little more Aml...
