Nexium side effects

I just took my first Nexium pill before bed last night. This morning I have horrible diarrhea. I know diarrhea is a side effect. Does anyone else have experience with this? How long did it last? ## Hello, Naomi! How are you? Most side effects are transient and usually go away with time, as your body gets used to the medication, but it may take 3 or 4 weeks. I generally found it only to last a week, or so, for me, when I was taking it. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, stomach pain and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

I have been given a prescription of Nexium for a gerd/reflux issue. However, since I've been taking it, it seems like my arthritis ( mainly in my hands ) has been hurting more and getting worse. Is arthritis inflammation or joint soreness a side effect of Nexium? ## Have you been taking any other vitamins or medications with the Nexium? Although joint pain is not specifically listed as a side-effect (headaches are possible though), I am wondering if there are any drug interactions going on here. You can also read more about this medication at: Do you have any other questions or information to add? Please post back if you do... ## Re: Nexium side effects reply from Roy. Is Pantoprazole sod dr 40 mg the same drug as Nexium 40 mg? My husband was given Nexium samples by the doctor but was prescribed the Pantoprazole. Thank you ## Hi Barb, From what I could gather, they appear to be completely different drugs that are used for similar purposes. My guess is that the doctor wanted him to sample the Nexium to see if he responded better to one or the other. Nexium contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole & Pantoprazole happens to be the active ingredient in and of itself; but both are classified as proton pump inhibitors. I hope this info helps to shed some light on the subject! ...

I have chronic acid reflux, GERD, etc. I currently have esophagus erosion and my doctor prescribed Nexium 40 mg for 2 weeks. I have 20 mg tablets. My question is should I take the 40 mg (2 tablets) at one time or one in the morning and one in the evening? which way is most effective? ## Generally, unless instructed otherwise, one should be taken in the morning, just before your meal, and one in the evening just before a meal. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and flatulence. However, it never hurts to double check with your doctor to be sure. I am a 51 year old woman and have been suffering from reflux and have been taking nexium 40 for many years. My GP recently asked me to take calcium to improve bone health. Can you advise if there are any issues taking these together? ## Hello, Suzanne! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed, but you should always double check such information. The Shelcal is a calcium supplement, so it may cause some constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Nothing more. Thanks for your response. ## I was diagnosed 6 years ago with two stomach ulcers which were the non bacterial kind. My doc put me on Nexium and I became "addicted". will enteric aspirin be effective if I take it right before nexium ## Hello, Connie! How are you? Yes, there shouldn't be any problem, at least not any that I'm aware of, the Nexium won't prevent the Aspirin from working. The FDA classifies Aspirin as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation and increased risk of bleeding. Can I Split Nexium 40 Capsules In Half
5 Replies RSS
My doctor changed my Nexium prescription from 40 mg to 20 mg. Can I separate the pills I have in half so I don't waste what I have? ## No, you can't safely split a capsule, because there is no way to ensure that you are evenly splitting the amount of the medication that is inside them. Learn more Nexium details here. Why did your doctor lower the dosage? Unless there was some reason for doing so, there is likely little harm in finishing up what you have of the higher one and then moving to the lower dosage, since this is just a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces. ## I just tried Nexium 24 (20 mg pills), and it worked great at stopping my heartburn, which I get every day and sometimes multiple times/day, but, it gave me bad cramps and diar... ...

I've been taking zerodal for 5 days and started taking beralgin yesterday as well as beralgin. Does all these three bring side effects of swollen mouth and finger tips and feet ## Before I cover any of these medications, it is important that you know that swelling in the mouth is not a side effect, that can be a sign of a serious allergic reaction and it is very important that you contact your doctor immediately! Zerodol contains the active ingredients Aceclofenac and Paracetamol, it is used to treat pain and swelling. The common side effects from it can include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach irritation. Baralgan contains the active ingredient Analgin or Metimizole, this is another pain reliever. It is another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, just like the Aceclofenac in... ...
