I'm suppose to start Lupron in a week and I am a little nervous. Just looking for more info about it. ## Lupron contains the active ingredient Leuprorelin, which is most commonly used in the treatment of hormonal responsive cancers. Have you spoken to your doctor about your concerns over starting it? They would be the best qualified to help you understand whether it is right for you to try and what side effects you may experience.

My husband first took 45 mg Lupron injection and decided not take but three bacalutamide pills to ease hot flashes because didn't like contraindications. His energy levels are low. Is that possibly from the lupron? Are the bicalutamide pills going to give more energy? Should he be taking them for for better antiandrogen results? ## It is a very important medication in the treatment of his cancer, since it is an antiandrogen. His results really aren't going to improve, without it. Has he spoken to his doctor about it? What contraindications did he find so concerning? When battling cancer, it is normal for his energy levels to be low, so that may not change for awhile, even with the treatments.

i'm on limited income, it's takin all my extra monies for my treatment of casodex daily, is there some program to help me and my wife out? between doctors, lupron shots, and the casodex treetment, we have nothing left. these treatment are keeping me alive, thank you. ron ## Hi Ronald, Sorry to hear about your challenges. Do you currently have health insurance coverage? If so, do they supplement the costs of Casodex? If not, are you able to qualify for Medical / Medicaid where you are? Just trying to throw some ideas out there with regards to what public assistance programs might be available to you. Also, you might try contacting the manufacturer AstraZeneca, because sometimes the pharmaceutical companies are able to offer their own assistance plans. You should not have to suffe...

just started zytiga, along with prednisone, 50 mg of casodex, lupron shot within 10 days.. and hitrofurantoin monohydrat 100 mg.. and have a white substance.. "OCCURING" frequently. on the inside of mouth. also on Fentnyl 50 mcg, and 600 mcg Fentnyl ( actiq).. ## Have you spoken to your doctor about it? There is a reasonably good chance that the white substance in your mouth is due to a yeast infection from the antibiotic, Nitrofurantoin that you are taking. They are well known to cause them as side effects. If that is what is causing the problem, then your doctor can prescribe an antifungal oral medication to help clear it up.

I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer in 2001. I had radiation treatment 4 years later. Last summer my psa begin to rise rapidly. I was put on casodex & then 3 weeks later I had a lupron shot. I have not had a shot since & I continue to take 50 mg of casodex daily. My psa has stayed down for 4 months. My next blood test is April 7. Is it a bad idea to just stay on Casodex? I had hot flashes when I had the Lupron shot. I am not having hot flashes when only on Casodex. If my psa does not go up, I would like to just stay on Casodex. If my psa begins to rise I believe my Doctor plans to give me another Lupron shot. Does this seem like a good possible approach to my situation?

My husband has an aggressive form of prostate cancer. In 2 years have been through chemo, radiation, lupron, immunotherapy (provenge), zytiga and another one or two that I can't remember. Anyway, the doctor is now talking about xtandi and Radium 223, and perhaps a clinical trial using Taxotere using Ascorbic acid. Side effects from the Xtandi, Radium and Taxotere (which he did 2 yrs ago when diagnosed) are not very pleasant, especially if the results are only for 3-4 months, which is the average before his psa rises and scans show the cancer spreading. Anyone else have an aggressive form of prostate cancer and dealing with treatment that doesn't work for long? ## Dear CeeCee, I'm very sorry to hear about the condition your husband is in. My spouse's grandfather (age 80+)...

I've tried prescription, opiates, narcotics, homeopathic, pelvic pain pilates n yoga. NOTHING RELIEVES MY PAIN AND I DO NOT LIKE THE MENTAL EFFECTS. My brother was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and later had prostatectomy followed by rounds of chemotherapy. He was later prescribed abiraterone which he has been taking for 5 months up until August. His PSA doesn't seem to be going down since 5 months he's been on it. The PSA was checked on Wednesday September 29th and the result is at 38. Do you think Casodex alone or with Lupron will work better than Abiraterone at getting his PSA down? Thanks ## It’s my understanding that Casodex and lupron should be taken together to get the best results. You can access many instructive and very optimistic videos from the Prostate Cancer Research Institute on YouTube regarding treatment options for stage 4 prostate cancer. Good luck! ## Thanks for your input. ## I was told by...
