I have some clindamycin left over from a few months ago and I was curious if it treats a urinary tract infection ## The drugs most often used to treat routine, uncomplicated UTI's are trimethoprim (Trimpex), trimethoprim/sufamethoxazole (Bactrim, Septra, Cotrim), amoxicillin (Amoxil, Trimox, Wymox), nitrofurantoin (Macrodantin, Furadantin), and ampicillin [1]. Although Clindamycin is not on the above list, it does not necessarily mean that it won't work. The thing with UTIs is that urine testing and/or medical history may be required to determine the specific bacteria causing the infection. Different meds for different bacetria. Hope this helps. can u take this for the flu ## Hi angeletta, Antibiotics in general will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. However you can learn more about the uses of this medication here: Clindamycin Details The flu treatment you should take largely depends on your symptoms. For example, if you have nasal or sinus congestion, then a decongestant may be most helpful, as opposed to an antibiotic. There are also numerous cough medicines with various combinations of decongestants, antihistamines, analgesics/antipyretics, cough suppressants, and expectorants, all depending on what symptoms you have. I am taking Clindamycin for a wisdom tooth infection. It works great yet I want to forewarn any women who may decide to take it. It gave me a nasty yeast infection. I am talking about swollen lips, itchy, dry, very uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time. It seems most antibiotics help with one thing and cause other problems. Clindamycin breaks up proteins down there and it causes yeast to grow. If your doctor prescribed you this, get yourself some OTC (over the counter) yeast infection treatment when you go and get the meds from the pharmacy. ## That can be a normal side effect of most antibiotics, in both men and women, although of course for men, the yeast infections are usually only oral. If you are prone to getting them from any particular antibiotic, it is always a good idea...

How long does it take for the pain to start going down? ## Hello, Syd! How are you feeling? Has there been any change, yet? i use it to treat MRSA. Clindamycin 150 mg. i am on my 5th day course now. But i forgot to take it on time. It´s just like two hours delayed. i should have take it 5pm but i remembered it 7pm already. Is there a big chance that i will be resistant/or the bacteria will be resistant to that antibiotic? what should i do? ## No, if the different was only 2 hours or so, there really shouldn't be any problem, at all. Even when being used to treat MRSA, antibiotics don't have to be taken at precisely the exact same time, the object is really just to keep them consistently in your body, so taking them a little later or earlier is fine. Tomorrow, I will be finished with a 10-day prescription of Clindamycin for a severe bacterial infection following a root canal. I noticed, long after I was taking them that the RX had one refill of another 10-day (3x daily) bottle. I called my dentist's office today and spoke only to the receptionist (long time grown woman - not a kid) and asked if that was an error at the pharmacy or were I to have it refilled and take it for another 10 days. She said yes and that was without hesitation, and I asked twice. The pharmacist at the drugstore agreed that a 10-day RX was unusual. My dentist is closed Friday through Sunday (and tomorrow is Friday). Is this typical - or was a mistake made? My infection 100% better (tennis ball size swelling just about gone, and I think I'll live. I mis...
